Jesus is not the heavenly Father. Yet He is one with Him. He is God. (Isaiah 9:6) Through Christ, the whole world and universe were created. On the sixth day of creation week, God said to His Son Jesus, "Let us make man in our image." Jesus is one with God, yet also being His Son.
After man fell into sin, the plan of salvation was devised. Scripture tells us, that "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son." John 3:16. Jesus was to become a human being on earth, to bear the sins of the the world upon His shoulders and die on the cross. He was to be tempted like us since He was to be human like us. Jesus died for us, so that through faith and obedience in God, we shall be brought back to Him. It was not easy for Christ to do this. Whilst upon the cross bearing the sins of the world, Christ experienced seperation from God. He could no longer see God's divine countenounce. This pierced Christ's heart so much, that His physical pain was hardly felt, which cannot be fully understood by man.
Christ shouted out upon the cross before He died, "My God my God, why hast thou forsaken me?". And once Christ died, one of the soldiers took a spear and pierced His side, in which blood and water flowed forth. It was not the spear thrust that killed Christ, but as the water and the blood declared. He died of a broken heart.
Here are some verses speaking of Jesus, showing that Jesus is one with God.
Revelation 1:6
"And hath made us kings and priests unto God (Jesus) and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
Acts 7:59
"And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
John 20:28
"And Thomas answered and said unto him (Jesus), My Lord and my God."
John 1:1,14
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
1 John 5:7
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
Matthew 1:23
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son (Jesus), and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."
Isaiah 9:6
"For unto us a child (Jesus) is born, unto us a son (Jesus) is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
John 8:57-58
"Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am."
Exodus 3:14
"And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
I do understand that we won't at this time fully understand the idea of the Heavenly trio. I doubt that we should even expect to understand everything about God 100%. But we can be certain that John 1, Colossians 1, tells us that Jesus created all things, and was with God in the beginning. We can be in no doubt that God said to His Son on the sixth day of creation week, "Let us make man in our image". Genesis 1:26.
