Salary or Title vs. Free time

Some may notice i am not native-english speaker but hope you understand what i am trying to debate. In my experience in our country, most workers work more than 16 hours a day. Good for someone like workholic, but bad for someone who eagers to spend its time with family. If you have choice, which value will you take?

Did Obama really say successful people didn't do it on their own?

So, our current president gives aspeech yesterday saying if you created a business, you didn't do it on your own.  While I believe he meant you did it on your own, but there were likely other things that made it possible for you to be successful! It did not come across that way.  So now I am pissed!  Here is an excerpt from his speech to,give you context.  As a business owner, should I be pissed or just let it slide?   PRESIDENT OBAMA: And, you know, there are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me. Because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t – look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be just because I was so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something. There are a whole bunch of hard working people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

Keynesian vs Austrian Economics

This Debate is one between the two most prominent economic theories: Modern Keynesian Economics and Austrian Bisuness Cycle Theory. **NOTE** Arguments should presented in the affirmative of either side should be chararcteristics that are universally accepeted as characteristics of that argument. Less than a week after the Federal Government declined to bail out Lehman Brothers from going bankrupt, they orchestrated an $85 Billion bailout of AIG. Smoking could be argued to be counter-productive, harmful to others (second hand smoking) and shorten one's life... but it is done out of choice. Should it be allowed or should it be banned?

Does supply and demand naturally improve working conditions on its own?

The accident rate was dropping from 1900-1970 (before OSHA)...Laissez faire capitalists credit this to supply & demand, while others believe it was a combination of other factors...what do you think, does supply & demand work on its own to improve things? or does it work on its own to make some things worse, and therefore those things require the regulation of externalities?

The Nonsensical Logic Of Keynesian Economics

Government regulation is to blame for big business.

There is the argument around that when government steps into a free market system and enforces certain regulations, that, only the most suited, aka wealthy, of companies coul accomodate for those regulations. Fire codes, zoning, product control, and minimum wage among other things are the types of regulations that this argument is suited. Do you agree?

Trickle-down economics is an utter and complete failure.

There is no such things as a self-made millionaire. Money vs. Labor Credits

With the gold standard currency, the currency is basicly valued by gold and the United States used this up untill the 1970's. This system is like what we use now in a way.   However, labor credits are more interesting... Say you work for 8 hours. You get 8 labor credits. You buy a chair that took someone 2 hours to make, it costs two labor credits. It is a bit more complex than this but it is a different way to give money value other than gold or just giving it value like we do today...

Most people think it's collapse would cause immense harm and that we should do everything in our power to prop it up. Others think that "the economy" should fail and it's demise is long overdue.

Is Keynesian Economics the best economic theory?

As Obama ponders who is the right person to tap for the ever-more-important role of Treasury Secretary, he must take a close look at their plans for stimulating the economy. Some have called Obama a Keynesian economist, but many wonder if that's the best theory. For those non-econ geeks out there, Keynesian economics is essentially a theory that the best way to stimulate the economy is for the government to step in to increase spending, either by increasing the money supply or by actually buying things on the market itself.
