Does the religion of Islam violate human rights?

Homosexuality

Is homosexuality wrong? Why is it wrong? What gives religions the right to take away the freedom from homosexuals? Why are people so ignorant to think it is a choice? Why?

Freedom of belief is a better term than freedom of religion (please read first).

The reason is because it extends the right of people to choose their beliefs to nonreligious people and eveyone.

Which one?

Which "type" of person should get more rights in America, homosexuals, or illegal immigrants?

Christians should stop campaigning against abortion.

If God has planned the life of every living thing down to the very moment of their demise, should abortion not be part of this plan? If God plans abortions then Christians that campaign against it are disobeying their God. Do these Christians have the right to protest and still be called Christians?

Is islam a religion of peace?

Islam - the submission of one's will to god (allah) It's the end of the first decade of the 21st century and while Christianity is on the decline, another abrahamic religion has taken it's place. The Islamic faith draws people into it's doctrine by the thousands. From a faith that was once practiced by certain ethnic groups, it is now followed by people from all races and social backgrounds. While pre-christian Europe becomes increasingly secular, it has also became the arena of a new form of psychological battle field. Some westerner see it is merely another belief system that is yet to adapt to the western hemisphere, yet others see it is a vicious politically motivated doctrine who's masterminds seeks to undermine the principles of human rights and hard gained civil liberties. From freedom of expression to accusations of islamophobia and intolerance to secular principles versus uncompromising faith-based principles. As the number of individuals being prosecuted for critizing Islam rises and the fundumentalist wings gain momentum, many westerners are now beginning to wonder whether the very definition of submission has gone too far...  

Is belief in God for the GREATER GOOD?

This is difficult to create in a 2 sided debate (and to make this post neutral), but first I'll try and explain the question. Let's look at this from the point of view that you are about to start a religion. You do not believe in it, nor do you believe in God but you see the world around you in despair and want to make some rules. However you feel people will not take these rules seriously and need a way to enforce them. This enforcer is God. Forgetting whether or not you believe in God, what is God's role to humans? After creating us the universe (or not) is the concept or belief in God what is needed to keep people in order? Let's say there was no God. When going against the rules of the religion how would you be punished? Jail? Community work? Parole? Fines? Or a limitless amount of pain for an infinite amount of time? (to burn in hell). Is that a much larger deterrent than something imagineable and altogether not so terrible? For a follower, is God's existance much more influential than the country's police and courts? So to get to the original point, should the idea of God be promoted whether or not you believe in Him? Even if He IS a lie, would it be better to to have this lie promote morals or if not God, some kind of 'myth'? Whether real or not, is belief in God for the GREATER GOOD? Two sides are - Yes, belief in the existance of God whether God exists or not has MORE benefits than lack of belief in God.                        - No, belief in the existance of God whether God exists or not has LESS benefits than lack of belief in God. P.S. - Don't make this an argument about religions. This is purely about the belief in God and not different religions beliefs and opinions in God. No talk on Christianity, Islam, Hinduism - as that is NOT the question.

The bible is... illogical

Okay, I apologize for all the Christians who are angry to me but I am just sharing my opinion okay? But it seems our opinions don't agree with eachother. The bible contains many flaws and contradictions (In my opinion) and I know the bible does contain values of how we should respect eachother and all, but it does contain illogical things and mean things like supporting sexism and slavery. For the opposing position, feel free to show how much you hate me for saying this but don't just yell, be convincing and show me all the proof you got because I want to know! And for those on my side, do your best as well! Just do this as respectfully as possible.  

Violence never serves the cause of justice

Many equate the meaning of "violence" with "use of dangerous force" or "agression." If that is how you think, you are (I predict) likely to disagree with the assertion this debate is based on. I would consider this debate a success if the opposing sides could agree on a succinct definition of violence. Debate formerly titled: "Violence is never justified." then "The doing of justice never requires violence."

In the Catholic church, should women be allotws to become priests

As most people know, only men are allowed to become priests in the catholic church. Do you think it's about time that women are allowed to become priests. Australia, for example has a law that prohibits discrimination for job applicants, I don't know the position of the law in the U.S. (if you know please inform me). If you agree with female priests, should the law intervene?

Personally, I think it's possible to objectively define morality, as I have already shown in a previous debate.   I am interested in hearing if there is a better alternative to my position.

In recent debates i've seen. The answers seem to be half and half when it comes to debating about religion and Muslim in specific. I personally thought this would be intriguing to see how this one goes.

Islam encourages violence

Islam claims to be the religion of peace. But is it? Most if not all terrorists in the world are muslims, which obviously says something. “The Last Hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews. The Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: ‘Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him;’ but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.” (Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Fitan wa Ashrat as-Sa'ah, Book 41, 6985) “So that Jews will hide behind trees and the tree will say “Muslim! The servant of Allah! Come, look there is a Jew behind me, he hid here, behind me, come and punish him”. Only the tree Gharqad will not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.” (Kitab al-Fitan, hadith. 2239) These two quotes from the koran support violence against jews for example. Yet the word 'islam' means peace. So what's going on here?

Is the phrase "Our God Given Right" overused and misunderstood?
