Almost the same post within a minute of one another. Either this guy is off his rocks or it is a bot.
The current accepted western definition is "disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods".
Is this accurate?
How do you use the term? What its connotations for you?
Does "disbelief or lack of belief in any religion" work better?
What about another definition?
What is considered torture (personally/socially/objectively/etc.)?
Is it justified under certain/all conditions?
How effective is it? Does effectiveness scale with "intensity"?
Just noticed random upvotes for all his arguments, even though all of them were shown to be in error.
I am turning into a conspiracy theorist...
EDIT: Looks like this was obvious to many people...
What happens when a religious congregation denies membership based on prejudice?
Is that considered a legal form of discrimination?
Which right/freedom wins?
Unlikely/impossible scenario?
The person can just find another similar congregation? Is that a win/lose/neither?
A user keeps resurrecting years-old debates, several on the same topic.
This pushes recent active debates down the list when using new activity sorting.
Is this helping or hurting the site?
Used the search function to find a debate regarding the reasons for the War in Afghanistan. None that relevant.
How many people already know the reasons the US, along with a large portion of the world military power, invaded Afghanistan?
What are some facts you already know about?
What are some facts you learned while researching this topic?
Was it justified? Did researching this topic change your views?
Just remembered a lecture from a long time ago.
Assume you are an aid worker somewhere in Africa.
One night, you hear hurried footsteps followed by rapping at your door. You open the door to find a young women carrying her babies. She pleads for you to listen to her story.
She tells you she has had the misfortune of having twins. Her village elders will kill both of her children if they ever found out. She needs your help to figure out which baby to get rid of.
What do you do? (Be as creative and as elaborative as you deem necessary.)
Just saw and clicked on an ad for CreateDebate. http://www.createdebate.com/teachers
Are there actual teachers/students on this site for academic purposes?
I have been debating thousandin1 in this debate about the chemistry behind contraception and hormones in general.
I am new and do not know the various personalities of established members. I am not sure if he is trolling me or is just too proud and stubborn to admit he is wrong.
His latest argument is telling me to list an example that is both artificial and natural in order to prove my point.
If he is a regular troll, then I have been trolled very hard and been made a fool.
If he is just too proud, then at least I haven't been trolled.
EDIT: Other reasons.
He may also have been trolling me in this debate.
Just saw a music video. Thought the singer was hot. Looked up her song and found out she is only 17 (I am in the US and my state limits it at 18). Made me feel self-conscious, like a potential predator or something; although the feeling lasted only a few seconds. Reminded me of this topic.
Clarification: I am asking for what factors should be used to determine the necessary factors for consent. Someone already mentioned emotional maturity. Are there other factors? What constitutes emotional maturity?
I would suggest those who wish to vote maybe, vote yes, as long as there is enough reasonable doubt in their minds.
A business owner refuses service to a young black male based on the reason that he looks like a gang banger and would cause trouble.
There is not enough evidence to establish direct gang relations. None of his tatoos seem to be gang insignias. He is dressed similarly to actual gang bangers who frequent the neighborhood. He does not appear to be armed nor is he behaving aggressively.
The establishment does not have a record for discrimination.
Basically for any debate, argument; online or IRL.
You can expound on personal preferences, debate etiquette, personal experiences, etc.
Also. Be Honest about your actions versus your intentions.
