Lets have a national vote on whether or not to allow Gay Marriage, instead of this state-by-state nonsense. I use to believe it should be left up to the individual states, but something like this needs to be put to a national vote.

Do you know what would happen if certain religions got tax exemptions? OMG...I don't even want to think about it.

If you are born in the United States and raised in the country or was granted citizenship legally, you are an American.

I am happy to say that I am an American.

I'll admit, I do not support gay marriage. This does not mean I hate gays or think homosexuality is a sin. Marriage I feel should be between a man and a woman. In the U.S., this decision I believe should be voted on in a State by State fashion. It should be up to the individual state to allow gay-marriage. If in my state we voted on it and is passed, so be it. If I can re-call Arizona, Florida, and California had a vote on Gay Marriage, and I believe all three votes came out to be against gay marriage. California, who would have thought? I think when it comes to gay marriage this has a major "Bradley Effect".

As for the rest of the world, its up to the rest of the countries to decide whether or not to accept it.

First off, obviously you didn't read my argument very well. What I said was that China has a very SIMILAR system and it is pr oven that for every one murder in China, twenty occur in the U.S., you make of that what you will.

Granted, some people are wrongfully imprisoned and it is ashame, but this why we have appeals court and court examinations, etc. Also please do not believe that executing someone is more expensive that just keeping them in jail. This is a tactic used by various religious groups and politicians who oppose the death penalty. Texas and I believe Arizona still have the death penalty and still allow death by firing squad. Now I'll believe lethal injection is more expensive than one or two bullets.

Your also making it sound like the majority of our criminals in prison are innocent, which most are not. People that I am talking about that should be executed are the ones that murder or molest children. Rape innocent women and kill for no good reason. And Murder people in gang violence, etc. You telling me that if a man killed a child and he was pr oven guilty and there was no doubt he was guilty, you wouldn't want him executed? Oh, I forgot, you want him in a rehabilitation center receiving treatment. Let me tell you something, than person just killed someones baby, lets think about that. Lets think about the man who rapes a woman, that woman will most likely be mentally traumatized for a long time if not the rest of her life. I am tired of people blaming it on drugs and mental sickness. Granted there are those who do have illnesses, but these excuses are being too abused by not just the criminals, but by lawyers looking to make a buck.

Refereeing to Gangs. Let me tell you how gangs start and this comes for the mouth of a state trooper and an ex-crip who now works at a convenience store now. Behind almost every gang there are men and women who are older who recruit young people (teens) into gangs by promising them love, protection and a family. Which most of these youngsters never had. These young kids deal and murder for these older men and women. Heres where I have a problem, years ago a 16yr old kid in a city north of me shot at two policemen, the officers returned fire and killed the kid. Both police officers were suspended with out pay. WHY????? If we stop punishing our cops and let them protect themselves without fear of consequence, trust me, these youngsters won't be looking for a gang to find family and love. Maybe they will start going to the programs meant for kids like them, to help them achieve a better life.

We could go back and forth arguing over this point, but you have your opinions and I've got mine. Its just your point of view. I respect your opinion and I hope you can respect mine.

Absolutely it needs reform. I know the perfect way to lower the crime rate and keep our jailed population low. If a person is convicted of rape, murder in the 1st or 2nd degree, or child molestation, execute them immediately. China has almost the same method and for every one murder in China, TWENTY occur in the U.S. Most people in jail view jail has a home sweet home, 3 hot meals a day, a bed to sleep in.

If we start executing these people and stop playing games such as; is this moral or immoral, but thats a human being too, this is not American, etc.

-Trust me, people will start to re-think whether or not the crime is worth it.

Last night was a huge defeat for the Republicans and a huge gain and victory for the Democrats. Once said to be dominant red states now are blue. Is this the beginning of the end for Republicans. Is this another Federalist party that once was in power for so long, but then fell apart and never recovered? OR will Republicans re-strengthen and gain back the white house and majority in Congress.

- I personally believe the Republicans will gain back power in perhaps 2016. The Dems by then, will probably have done something to upset the American people. But there is a chance that the Democrats will prevail and make America what it once was. If this happens it might mean, us Republicans are out of business.

McCain: 274 Obama:264

This issue is Irrelevant for the election, unless talking about Immigration laws and OBAMA wants to use this, but this question should not influence voters either way and if it does, OMG.

2 points

McCain still has a chance at winning. Like I've stated in past arguments polls cannot give a sure win. You never know what could happen in the next 48 hours and McCain is probably closer in the polls than many predict. This election may also be another "Bradly", because you never know what people are going to do in the privacy of the voting booth. Barack Obama does not have a definite win until every vote has been counted after November 4, 2008 and he hits that magical 270.

I feel the U.S. should do what ever it can to wrap up this war soon. BUT the U.S. needs to make sure the Iraqi government is stable enough to sustain itself and is not influenced by radical groups. The next President, in my opinion should listen to the U.S. generals in Iraq and do what they say to do to achieve our goals. Once the goals in Iraq are achieved, then we can leave.

1 point

Duh, I expect the Democrats to debate this, isn't that why we're on createadebate. I would be interested to see the responses to this. Why do you oppose this? The purpose of this list was to try to help people understand a little of why some other people dislike Obama and their reasons.

1 point

If you notice I believe I did say the chances of a tie are very unlikely. I believe that the polls cannot give an accurate estimation of whose in the lead. Obama is probably in the lead but not by the 9, 11, or 13 points that most media media pollings have him at. Obama does not have the election in the bag. And do you agree that voters could vote a different way then they said publicly, in the privacy of the voting booth?

1 point

First off, if you are going by the polls to say "It's looking like the Republicans are going to get Clobbered in this election", you might want to re-think this. If you haven't notice, every recent election, the media has had the democrats ahead in the polling. If I can recall, John Kerry was ahead 4 or 5 points ahead of Bush just four days before election day. The media, may have Obama leading by a huge margin, but cannot give very accurate result, unless the media asks every single person, who plans to vote, who they are voting for. I have also heard an interesting theory. Since the majority of the media is pro-Obama, they have him way ahead in the polls to try to make many republicans think that it isn't worth even going to the voting booths.

What interesting could also happen is neither Obama or McCain make it to 270 and it is up to Congress to decide and each State gets one vote. In this case, McCain would win, but this is unlikely that neither one will not reach 270. You also have to consider, what a person might or might not do in the privacy of the voting booth.

To the question, "What's the future of the Republican Party", I would say look back in history. Ever sine the late 1800's both Democrats and Republicans have had their time in power. At one time the American public is upset with the Democrats and will vote Republican and at other times vice versa.

Eventually the Republicans will get back in the White House, if they lose this election, because eventually the Dems will do something to make the American people ticked off and that next election year the Republicans will get back the White House. As too what issues and messages the republicans will adjust and deliver after this election, it really depends on what happens during the next four years. If Obama gets elected, the Republicans will see how he does and try to exploit his failures and flaws during the next election. But during the four years the Republicans will try to do as much as they can to improve our economy and make the country secure.

I will agree with you on the stem-cell research, I hope eventually the hardcore republicans can eventually see the good in this type of research.

A McCain presidency would make me feel a lot safer than a Obama presidency. Heres why. John McCain is more experienced and knows what America needs for the economy to get strong again. McCain also has much more experience in foreign affairs. Mostly every Obama supporter I've talked to says, Biden makes up for what Obama lacks in foreign relations, affairs, etc. Well, I want a president that needs as little help from the Vice president as possible. Even Biden said during the Democratic primary, that Obama would need "on job training". Now of course Biden has changed his stance, now that hes the Democratic VP candidate.

I also believe it is a fair question to ask Obama about some of the people he surrounded himself with. Questions about people such as Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright are legitimate. Obama supporters can say, well Obama isn't affiliated with Rev. Wright, and Obama left the church. Well, I have a question. Why after all those years did he suddenly decide to up and leave the church? Answer: Because many people rightfully kicked up a fuss and asked questions about it and Obama did not want it to jeopardize his PRESIDENTIAL campaign. Also I am not buying that Rev. Wright just out of the blue started to preach Anti-American views and racism. If you also believe Obama never heard him preach a word of this, your gullible.

Bill Ayers, is another legitimate person to question. Obama says, well I was only eight when he committed those terrible acts. Well, Bill Ayers still preaches Anti-American beliefs and has said he does not regret bombing the Capital, Pentagon, planning to bomb Ft. Dix in New Jersey, etc. So why would you even get involved with this man thirty-years later? The Dems say Obama just served on a Committee with him and didn't really do much with Ayers. Well heres my question, Obama had to know what this man preaches, believes, and stands for, so why would you want to involve yourself with anything Ayers is connected with?

If McCain had any of these type of affiliations, OMG the left-wing media, liberals, and democrats would still be crucifying him.

Obama and his supporters can say McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time, including the Bush tax cuts. Well, Obama has been labeled as the most liberal voter in the Senate by both Republicans and Democrats. Obama wants to tax big companies and everyone who makes over $250,000. Why over tax companies that will then need to lay off workers to help pay for the higher taxes. These companies are also going to RAISE PRICES in response to these tax increases. I believe Obama's plans and ideas will further damage the nation.

1 point

Ok Rev. Wright

Yes, no country is 100% correct in its efforts and everyone loses in a war. BUT the best defense is a good offense, not to be confused with aggression. The United States is not the one spewing "KILL THE INFIDELS" and schooling their children in hatred and terrorist techniques. There are religious extremest that teach hatred for all others that do not follow their beliefs. Some even go as far to call for the death of non-believers. Our national defense and security must not be compromised by those who think that the United States is the enemy. If you think that these leaders and groups will ever change their goal to destroy the United States, than you need a serious wake-up call.

McCain's tax plan is better because of the simple fact that redistribution of wealth, I feel, will further hurt our country. The Democrat/Liberal idea of taxation is going from the bottom up. Meaning tax the rich more and more and give the money to the lower class and eventually the money will circulate back up to the wealthy and big businesses. The Republicans/Conservatives believe, give tax breaks to the big companies and as a result they'll expand thus creating more jobs and strengthening our economy. The problem with Obama's tax plan is that its too risky for todays world economy. The U.S. has to now compete with countries like China, India, etc. where products can be made A LOT cheaper. So far two of my family members who were supervisors of their departments, lost their jobs because of the company moving the departments to India, where the company can save 6 CENTS per book printed (Comes out to be about 59 million dollars per year in savings, just for the two departments). If Obama taxes the big companies, whats to stop them from going overseas? Obama promises tax breaks for companies who don't ship jobs overseas, but whose going to pick up the tab for those tax cuts? The Middle Class.

-With big tax increases on companies, just means HIGHER PRICES.

-Do you like paying $4.00 for a gallon of gas? Well, I can't wait to see what it'll be with Obama's tax plan.

-Obama's plan is also going to make it harder for people in the middle class to move up because as soon as anyone works their way up to making a salary of $250,000, they will be rewarded with a huge tax. So for all middle class better keep your salary below the mark.

So what your saying is you would risk the lives of millions of Americans, just so we can say "We have the Moral High Ground". A lot of countries do and will hate America whether or not we have the moral high ground. What allies are you talking about that hate America. Hate is a strong word, some allies may not agree, like most did with the war on Iraq. But most sent troops anyway to help because they are our allies and we would do the same for them.

4 points

I feel negotiation and talking is fine. But I hope Obama realizes that sometimes negotiation will not work and it is America that must strike first before America suffers extreme casualties. There are extremest in the world that just out right hate America and what we stand for. These extremest will not stop until America and certain allies are annihilated.

Obama wants to talk and negotiate, fine. But what makes Obama think that he can change the opinions of leaders, of countries such as Iran, N. Korea, Venezuela, etc. who have made statements such as, "America is a stinking corpse,"The days of the American Empire are coming to an end", "America, Israel, and the U.K. will soon be wiped off the face of the earth", "America's and Europe's Christian god will be conquered by the one true god", "All countries must unite to destroy the evil America".

-If Obama talks with these leaders, don't you think they'll tell him what he wants to hear and still have a pure hatred for Americans and want to destroy us any chance they get? I do.

I feel that McCain had many opportunities to show Obama's weaknesses, but didn't take them. Personally I would have liked to have Obama explain more about his back round and involvement with ACORN. It should be obvious to everyone what ACORN is doing.Committing Voter Fraud to help the democrats win in several states. Why else would Obama's Campaign given $800,000 to the controversial organization, ACORN.

http://www.mailtribuneforum.com/forums/index.

http://hillarysmygirl08.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/obama-paid-acorn-800000-and-forgot-to-report-it/

http://mothersforamerica.blogspot.com/2008/10/obama-campaign-gave-acorn-over-800000k.html

-Granted, McCain did accept honors from ACORN in 2006. But that was 2006 and not a PRESIDENTIAL election year and ACORN was not yet being investigated for Voter Fraud by the Feds. Plus ACORN endorsed Obama for the presidential election.

-As for Obama's preacher, I feel that the house of God is not an appropriate place for making such comments. Rev. Wright is entitled to his freedom of speech, but what he has said in church, about racism and America, is truly unacceptable.

-America's history does have it's flaws, but what nation's hasn't. I also find it interesting that many people find McCain and the Republican party are responsible for stirring up racism. Many people even go as far to say that the Republicans supported segregation and didn't care about slavery. Obviously these people have never opened up a history book. The Republican party was formed on the basis of slavery being abolished in America and it was the Southern DEMOCRATS that supported slavery and tried to make it legal. Before, during and after the Civil War, the Democrats considered the Democratic Party to be the "White Man's Party". Lets not forget that the Dems have a very controversial back round.

When it comes to national security, cutting spending, and helping to reverse the direction of the country's economy McCain wins. Obama, wins in public speaking and appealing to the American people. McCain needs to learn to be a better public speaker because it seems in this election, its not what you say, but how you say it. Also the Democrats have been in control of the Senate and Congress for a while and have nothing to show for it. Why? Could it be that they were waiting for the economy to get really bad so they could have a strong presidential campaign platform for 2008?

This is the true Obama, all talk no action. He just tells people what they want to hear. You know what, i say let him be preisdent, because when he screws up the country even more, its going to be funny. Why, because every single liberal and democrat is going to turn against him and say I didn't vote for him. Obama, what a joke.

Sarah Palin won the debate and exceeded all expectations. She did absolutely GREAT!!! I find it funny, msnbc is quick to attack Palin, but never Obama or Biden, hmmm. Why is this? BECAUSE MSNBC IS BIAS AND LIBERAL. I want my VP to be straight forward with me and not tell me things just to win my vote. Biden did this. Notice he really didn't refute her when she brought up him changing his views when he became Obama's VP choice. Biden says Obama is qualified to be president, hes experienced, hes done this, hes done that....etc. Joe, a few months ago you were one of the first people to say Obama was not experienced enough and is a great threat to our security because of his inexperience. Whats changed? Also, does anyone know what great accomplishments Biden has done? What does he have to show for his many years in the Senate? Can anyone answer that? Honestly, I didn't know Biden or Palin before this election, but with the Media constantly attacking Palin, and promoting the Obama/Biden ticket I want to know Biden's great accomplishments. For two years the democrats have been in control of both the Senate and Congress. What has Obama and Biden done to help the U.S. in those two years. What better time to propose and pass bills to help the economy and create a great presidential campaign platform. In my opinion both did nothing because the democrats needed the economy to continue to suffer to create a strong platform against the Republicans. And If you believe everything that Kieth O. tells you, I recommend a serious reality check. All the media does is try to manipulate people to believe what they think is best and will increase profits.

1 point

Alright andosoccer. You absolutely right. I really didn't agree with McCain's choice of Sarah Palin, but she has endured media attacks ever since she was picked. Msnbc, CNN, and Colmes on Fox, crucified her about her RNC speech. Obama, please. The Rev. Wright issue, probably helped Obama more than it did hurt. The only media group that really got into depth with this was Fox News. The New York Times had the story way in the back passed page 7 and yes I did see that NY Times issue. Also, where did you get your info on McCain's preacher, please I would really like know?

Have you been watching the news? The media is bias and liberal. A divide in the Democratic party, yeah ok. Hillary Clinton knew she had to endorse Obama at the end. Most of her supporters got behind Obama even before. All media groups show that 10% or less of Hillary Clinton supporters turned for McCain. Wow big divide. I live in a state that went for Hillary and every single person I knew who voted for Hillary, unfortunately decided to vote Obama for president as soon as there was no chance for Hillary to win the nomination. Make no mistake the Democratic will to see the Republicans lose the white house is very strong, and I believe that the Hillary Clinton supporters weren't given as much credit as they deserved. Of course you going to get a few supporters speak out in protest , but the majority would have gone to Obama with or with out her endorsement. If Hillary had not endorsed Obama this would have been viewed as her not showing support for the democratic party and would have eventually destroyed her reputation and any chances of her running in 2012 if Obama loses.

"What has Sarah Palin had to deal with" Are you kidding me?Ever since she was picked the media and the democrats have turned Alaska inside out looking for anything they can use against Sarah Palin. Lets not worry about Obama back in Chicago, who has been linked with some very questionable people and some very shady deals. But lets forget about all that, right? I guess Sarah Palin's tanning booth or what ever, is much more important. Democrats don't want to admit Obama is just like every other politician, but hiding behind the word Change. Sarah Palin is qualified to be VP, and if the republican ticket wins, I feel, she'll do a brilliant job as the Vice President of the United States.

-I do ask you, andsoccer16, what has Biden done, beside serve in the Senate for many years, to help the U.S. and improve our foreign relations. What has he done?
