The idea of a theistic, Christian or Islamic or Jewish interventionist, supernatural 'God' is frankly ridiculous. There is not evidence for any kind of miracle, divine intervention or prayer being answered. It is a bizarre idea to claim that the Bible has any kind of supernatural or divine hand behind it seeing as it is frequently contradictory, written over hundreds of years and was edited and put together in the 5th Century AD- some early Christians believed in many Gods! Many denied Christ's divinity! This does not sound like the one true faith, does it? Seeing as Christ's own followers and early Christians in the 1st Century could not even agree on who he was, what he was like or even if he was married or not!

I would argue that people are becoming more aware of history, science and the universe, and many come to the realisation that man-made religion does not explain our lives' meaning or raison d'etre, and neither do those religions hold much moral authority. People are becoming more aware and accepting of their true place in the grand scheme of things.

On a personal note, I intend to end my life voluntarily if ever I should develop dementia etc. or become ridiculously obese. I am a strong willed person, and after a lot of contemplation, believe I would carry through with suicide should I think it necessary.

Historically suicide has been considered honourable in many scenarios- especially with warriors. Surely society should give me the right to my own death rather than let somebody carry on living in a resentful, pitiful existence?
