Well first of all it's important to realize that conservatives are being retarded when they say that democrats are Marxists. Most establishment democrats are barely different from conservatives.
Second of all it's important to realize that Marxists aren't conspiring to end christianity by force, because Marx basically said that the less stupid and uneducated the masses are the less they will believe in religion. It's more about showing people that religion is retarded through education than conspiring to destroy it in some sneaky or violent way.
Bernie Sanders is not a true socialist because actual socialism does not retain capitalism to the extent that his policies would. He is a social democrat which sounds similar and is not what he calls himself but it is technically what he is.

Most people are too shortsighted to really think about the future and realize that it will not at all be the same as how things are now. They assume there will be things like money or religion or other such type 0 civilization crap but in reality it will be either a fascist technocracy dystopia or it will be an RBE system similar to what the venus project portrays. Most people advocate for something more in the middle like capitalism or social democracy, but there is very good reasoning behind my conclusion that it must be one of two extremes when it comes to type one and beyond civilizations.
The more advanced a civilization becomes, the more technical it must become in order to be well organized and handle it's own potential for altering it's environment. This means that the social constructs, institution, and overall superstitious human mindset will no longer be a factor, which means the human race must evolve collectively and create a socialistic technocracy system or a few will evolve and the rest will be used and done away with and it will result in a fascist technocracy system.

I don't think it should be done by a private practice, and if the government or corporations have a hand in it, it will be used for the benefit of the few at the expense of humanity as a whole. Humans have advanced technologically past the level that we've advanced psycho-socially and editing human genes in more minor ways will not be the end of the world but if we are still using the same socio-economic systems when the technology gets truly advanced it will result in the wealthy becoming a transhuman super-race and the majority of humans who can't afford biotechnological augmentation will become cattle.
