I won't ever get into these debates simply because every country has problems of some sort. No argument will ever change that fact. Also, finger pointing and flag waving never does any good.

Art, of any form, develops the mind. It exercises a part of the mind that is not always used. So yes, it should be taught because the idea is to enlighten and expand the minds of our youth. I had art class in one year of junior high and I was horrible in it. But i still think it's worthwhile.
