I'd like to see an age/region added to our profiles/next to our posts. Almost all other forum sites do this and they're better for it.

I'm not sure it's a growing passion anymore. I mean....eight years ago...yeah, that was growing. Now it's here.

And not just for the youth, either.

Ever since my parents, uncles, and aunts could join facebook, it's gone way downhill.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, facebook kinda sucks.

It don't matter where you get your appetite, as long as you're eating at home.

What other animal has ever had opposable thumbs and the ability to revolutionize their food sources?

Democrats are definitely smarter, but Republicans have the balls. Democrats are cowards when it comes to standing up to them.

Easily it is the internet. It's grown so quickly and changed the world. It's arguably redefined everything about how we store/look for knowledge. Nothing is off limits! Information is free.

No, because you can be any religion and a freemason. You just have to believe in some higher power. They won't allow you to name the higher power, because they're not into that. Believe in whatever you want. As long as it is something and not nothing.

You must be delusional or thinking of a different US. The president clearly does NOT want this, but the Republicans have me worried. They seem more concerned about politicizing the issue to score points with constituents than with...you know....running our country (and I don't mean into the ground).

Oh no! MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET ISN'T USING NICE WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. The debate is about THE CURRENT CLIMATE CHANGE. So that means the fact that natural climate change has occurred before does not discount the fact that climate change could be caused by human activity.

Pull your head out of Glenn Beck's ass and look at the facts. Human activity caused an effing hole in the ozone. If you don't think human activity can also affect the climate, you're a moron.

Nobody is denying that the earth goes through cycles of natural climate change as well.

The question is whether or not the climate change CURRENTLY being experienced is natural or caused by the changes to our environment by us. The fact that climate change CAN occur naturally has no bearing on whether or not THIS one is.

Nice try, troll. Also, learn to spell.

Harry Potter, obviously.

For reasons I shall not enumerate.

I'm sorry, what?

That doesn't make any sense.

Please explain.

My mom. She always loved rainbows and would get silly-excited if she saw one.

But if it's a double rainbow, then "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?"

What's complacent about holding a belief strongly but not caring if other people do or not?

1 point

Oh, also it would be cool to have two pictures in the debate itself, one for the yes response and one for the no.

2 points

Yes, within the arguments, it would be great. It would really liven things up around here! Obviously you'd have to have rules about what kinds of pictures could be posted (no porn, etc.)

1 point

I don't think you can! I was trying to, all you can do is add a link or embed a video.

1 point

I didn't mean pictures OF you.

Pictures to help your case, or liven this place up.

Besides, if you don't want people to see pictures of you, that's easily solved by not posting pictures of yourself.

If you'll note, I said "I'm not cynical." I, too, don't buy the initial argument for belief in God.

You'll also note I never said the universe existed for our benefit. Nor did I suggest that you should believe in God, or that anyone else should for that matter. But you asked why I did, and I answered.

Now, it's clear that you and I disagree. But don't tell me about my beliefs. It's extremely infuriating.

If I were being cynical, I could say that if you don't believe, and God doesn't exist, there's no benefit. If you don't believe, and God does exist, there's potentially a lot of consequence. If you believe and God doesn't exist, there's no harm. But if you believe and God does exist, there's great benefit.

But I'm not cynical. I believe in God because the universe is too beautiful and precise and harmonious to be an accident imo. I cannot say for certain. But there's this internal truth in my heart that tells me there is a higher power. And for that, I will believe until proof is given to the contrary.

I cannot say with absolute certainty that God does not exist, but I will live my life as if that were the case until proven otherwise.
