I put this "argument" on this side of the column because I have to post a argument in order to post the debate.

I mean don't get me wrong, I don't think there is this evil mastermind personally controlling everything we know, just that peoples bias affects what they tell us.

I think we have been lied to. At least a little bit. I'm not suggesting everything I've ever been told is false, but I somewhere, whether in the local news or in education, bias has effected what we have been taught.

No one is even taking this debate seriously, that's because the earth is round. But then again at this size perspective is so skewed I don't even know what's real anymore.

I think the rich should donate money to charity but they don't have to, it's their money.

I think even a world with slightly less psychos could have anarchy.

If you legalize guns the people who would buy them are those who would defend themselves. The criminals determined to commit crimes are going to buy guns whether it is legal or not, the only difference is that they'll be attacking a defenseless population.

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

-Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

Those who would use the guns for illegal purposes wouldn't care about a law saying not to have guns.

Natural selection is for species, some of us are smart, but then again there are a LOT of stupid people.

America is amazing, but it would not have survived long enough to thrive without the contribution of blacks. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the U.S., a lot of that contribution came in the form of slavery. It is sad that we had slaves but without the labor we would never have won the revolutionary war. Not to mention that many slaves fought for the U.S. in battle. Slaves helped win the battles of Ticonderoga, Breed's hill, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Saratoga, Savanah, Charleston, Cowpens, Yorktown, and countless others. True, the U.S. was led by a majority of whites, but gained victory only on the backs of slaves. Black people have also made huge contributions to society. Garret Morgan created most of the laws of traffic and had the idea of the traffic light. Daniel Williams was the first to complete open heart surgery successfully. Lewis Latimer perfected the light-bulb. There is so much black people have done in contribution, they do not deserve to be abused.

Technology-the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.Technology has brought us from foraging and hunting with a stick to what we are today. Personal pleasures, education, communication, Better ways to produce food, better ways to distribute water, transportation, shelter, and better ways to identify and treat disease are but a few ways that technology has given us an advantage over our past selves. Technology is what defines us as man, it is what separates us from animals. Communication has exponentially increased countless aspects of life. The difference between millions of people being able to share ideas and one or two people trying to figure something out is mind boggling. the average life expectancy during the 17th century was 35 years. It is now 81 years for woman and 76 years for man. This is what technology has done.

It really depends on your view of the definition of sport. Most consider it an activity with physical exertion, skill, competition, a set of rules, and spectators. I think many would put mental exertion in that definition as well. chess has been recognized as an Olympic sport since 2000 and was an event at the 2006 Asian Olympics at Doha again at the 2010 Guangzhou Olympics and will be in the 2020 Tokyo summer Olympics as well.Although I agree that we need to be physical, we need to admit that brains will almost always get us farther in life then strength and we also need to admit that chess is a sport.
