Why do you think global companies like AT&T;and Vodafone are sniffing around India and buying companies like Hutch?

AirTel, Hutch, Tata Indicom and Reliance have all tailored cell phone solutions for the Indian masses, poor and rich in extremely innovative ways and have penetrated even very rural markets with rs 1000 handsets and Prepaid options that make sense for people in India and China!

Believe me, Indian Cell phone companies are 100 times more innovative than anything you can find elsewhere in the developed world!

Every major consumer product like soap, shampoo, pickles, etc have all been "pouched" and sold for Rs.1 in every rural market, even as we speak! And they are buying in droves! In 2006 Business India did a Consumer profiling study and found that the people who earn the least, the people they call "Nirdhaan" had enough money to buy shampoo in pouches and were buying them!

It all depends upon having a positive attitude and looking what innovation represents "Value" (balance between cost and benefits) and provide it in that form.

That applies to software also! The Indian population can be an immense advantage if you can think of Value and deliver it in a way that is customized and delivered in India that makes sense!

Saying that India can't lead the world is like saying that a newborn child cant walk... but like a child learns to walk and run in sometime.... India will lead the world... certainly in some time...
