1st Amendment

If the government can't  promote or prohibit any religion over another, why can they put "In God we Trust" on coins?
Add New Argument

When you got money, no one stops you anymore.

Why do you think Trump can say all the shit he said pre-election? Anyone poorer would have been sent to prison for hate speech especially when he said the things about immigrants and Muslims.

Money talks, don't deny it just accept it and learn to play the game.

You got chips? You can fuck the next man's girl.

"In God We Trust" is the official motto of the United States. It was adopted as the nation's motto in 1956 as an alternative or replacement to the unofficial motto of E pluribus unum, which was adopted when the Great Seal of the United States was created and adopted in 1782.[1][2]

"In God We Trust" first appeared on the Two-cent piece in 1864[3] and has appeared on paper currency since 1957. A law passed in a Joint Resolution by the 84th Congress (P.L. 84-140) and approved by President Dwight Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, declared "In God We Trust" must appear on American currency. This phrase was first used on paper money in 1957, when it appeared on the one-dollar silver certificate. The first paper currency bearing the phrase entered circulation on October 1, 1957.[3] The 84th Congress later passed legislation (P.L. 84-851), also signed by President Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, declaring the phrase to be the national motto.

Some groups and people have expressed objections to its use, citing its religious reference that violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment[4]. These groups believe the phrase should be removed from currency and public property.

It shouldn't be there, but those of us with real understanding and sense are a pretty quiet minority.

During the Cold War era, the government of the United States sought to distinguish itself from the Soviet Union, which promoted state atheism and thus implemented antireligious legislation.[12] The 84th Congress passed a joint resolution "declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States". The law was signed by President Eisenhower on July 30, 1956.[13] The United States Code at 36 U.S.C. § 302, now states: "'In God we trust' is the national motto."

There's your actual why, as if it was more important than the Constitution.

Just take a look at the difference between an Atheist nation like Russia, and a nation like America guaranteeing our religious freedom to live by our faith.

America has become the greatest naton in the world because of the moral values from our Christian heritage. Russia is but another would be dictatorship.

Having in God we trust on our money is not establishing a religion. It is lifting up the value and symbol of our Christian heritage. Who is forcing you to be a Christian when looking at the dollar bill?

Using that logic, we should be forcing humanism and censoring any symbol of religious expression from our public.

Oh wait a minute, the Left has been trying to do that for decades.

We should become a dictatorship whereby Government will establish humanism as their State sponsered non religion.

Does the Left even understand what freedom of religious expression means in the estblishment clause? They always leave that part out. Geeeeeeee, I wonder why.

This is how the Left is transfroming America. The first Amendments states.......

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

So what did the Left do to censor our community's freedoms of religious expression in this nation? First they had to twist the meaning of the First Amendment to suggest we should separate any religious expression from public places (the exact opposite of it's intent).

They used the phrase "Separation of Church and State", written in a letter, NOT THE CONSTITUTION!

They then twisted the meaning of even those words by saying it meant we should separate the very sight of religious symbols form public! TALK ABOUT A COMPLETE LIE!

Where the Amendments states that our Government shall make no law establishing a religion, the Left twisted this statement to mean Government should censor religious expression on pubic land rather than allowing every community to decide for themselves if they wanted to display religious symbols such as nativity scenes.

I ask you, is our big Federal Government trying to force communities to display religious symbols in order to establish a reigion? NO! Freedom of religious expression means just that.... the freedom to display, OR NOT DISPLAY, symbols celebrating our religious holidays.

IT'S CALLED CHOICE!

Is that small community Government forcing it's religion on you? NO, they are reflecting the majority of voters in their community to decide for themselves if they would like to display symbols or not display symbols. THE PEOPLE DECIDE!

The next thing the Left does is fear monger. To establish their humanistic atheistic Government in all of America, & censor the freedom of religious expression they are so biggoted against, they say if we allow the freedom of expression in a community to display a nativity scene during Christmas, our communities will start choosing to display Pagen cultish symbols supporting the sacrifice of children at the alter.

They would have you believe we might start having communities controlled by Muslims who are beheading Gays and raping women, if we allow nativity scenes during Christmas.

If a communtiy had a majority of Jewish people, the voters mIght decide to display a symbol for Hanukkah. THE HORRORS OF ALLOWING SUCH FREEDOMS OF EXPRESSION! WE MUST CENSOR EVERYTHING THAT MIGHT OFFEND THE ONE!

CENSOR IT! CENSOR IT! BURY YOUR HEADS IN THE SAND SO NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO GAZE UPON A RELIGIOUS SYMBOL. CLOSE YOUR CHILD'S MIND TO DIVERSITY!

Now let's see the absolute hypocrisy of these political correct bigots. The same people afraid Americans might be offended when seeing a religious symbol on public land during holdays, are trying to FORCE every public school to allow so called Transgender boys in our daughter's bathrooms!

Where's their concerns for all the parents offended by such a Big Government establishment of Transgenderism?

You can't make this stuff up, it's too unbelievable.

The Left did the same thing with abortion. They twisted the Constitution's privacy clauses to include the privacy of a woman to kill her unborn baby. UNBELIEVABLE!

Th Left just twisted the Consituton once more by FORCING every State to change their marrige laws for groups who claim it is an equal right's issue.

I wonder when every State will be forced to allow men having 30 wives?

Yes, lets allow the revision of our Constitution to state that we the people now include over 60 separate Genders. These are the modern times don't you know? Get on board the transformtion train and we can create an entire new political correct nation.

When you start allowing radical Leftwing politicans the ability to revise the Constitution, in order to censor religious expression so as to reflect modern humanistic concerns, then the very freedoms of religious expression, GUARANTEED IN THE CONSTITUTION, are no longer allowed. The Left will have won their battle of transfroming America.

The Separation of Church and state is one process stated in the United States Constitution. It is the only know written legal process of its kind in the world. It is left unlabeled as to provide the liberty of choice by necessity. The issue you describe was created by selling democracy over impartial separation granted by the fundamental word Constitution itself.

The wording "separation of Church and Sate" is NOWHERE in the Constitution.

Those words were used in a letter, and in no way meant what the Left has twisted it to mean.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

Which establishment of religion is respected by saying “In God We Trust”? None. This is not a real issue.

The one Religion of GOD. And this one religion by representation can form separation for this accusation cast against both it and the governing body. By equal representation under Constitutional Law.

God is not a religion, even in all caps.

As an atheist, I absolutely do not trust in a god. It establishes religion unto itself, and thus tramples on atheism.

The first amendment does not say that Congress shall make no laws that are exclusive of a given religion, such as atheistic Buddhism which is obviously left out in this case. It says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. For one, this is meant to keep government from establishing a religion, as they have in England. Our coinage does not establish a religion. Secondly, this Amendment has been interpreted that Congress can not make laws that are specific to a religion. Our coinage does not do that either. I’m sorry your perspective is left out of our money, but it is t unconstitutional.

“In God We Trust.” Can be taken from religion and separated by the republic as non-religious.

“One Nation Under Principle.” (A guide to the common defense. 2016) GOD can be described as an Axiom of numbers.

Keep in mind the Federal Reserve Note when defended in Court is not money it is a impartial receipt describing a fix value that is registered for exchange publicly on dept. and other services. The saying was introduced as religious it does not mean a separation of church and state cannot be applied once placed in service to the Country.

Religion should not be denied opportunity of representation base on religious merit alone.

It isn't just religion. The 1st amendment has also gone out of the window when it comes to freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The Bush era saw people being shamed into expressing only certain views in public, and that pattern has continued. Nobody dares criticise the military because it's considered equivalent to admitting you're a paedophile, and to even have the right to speak to most Americans in the first place will cost you millions of dollars.
