60 years ago we had few gun restrictions, yet there were no random mass school shootings.

Possibly the most critical root cause of the increase in American violence is that boys are increasingly raised without fathers present in the home. Currently 26% of American kids are raised in single parent homes, predominantly by a mother. Among Black Americans, this rises to over 70%. Significantly, the crime rate among Black males is higher than any other demographic group. There are also similarities between single-parent home rates and crime rates among Hispanics, Whites, and Asians. The need for strong and present father figures to help develop more complex and responsible concepts of manhood is evident. Otherwise the main source of male role models are in movies and TV, where manhood is more associated with violence than with responsibility, self-control, and sacrifice. 1

I agree 100%. I am constantly speaking to the breakdown in our families for the many problems in our society. Those on the Left attack me for speaking out on the moral breakdown causing most of our problems. They hate any mention of God or morals in pubic places. This is why they refuse to address the core problems in the Black community as well as the white community. Their only answer is always demonizing the gun and thereby taking the focus off the real core problems. Possibly the most critical root cause of the increase in American violence is that boys are increasingly raised without fathers present in the home. God, just no Marcus. The most critical root cause of increase in violence is putting a weapon in people's hands which does exactly that: increase violence. Guns dramatically increase the amount of violence, destruction and mayhem a person can cause because that is what they are fucking well built for. It is no coincidence that guns are what the fucking army uses when it goes into battle, you irrational clown. 3

@NumberOne he most critical root cause of increase in violence is putting a weapon in people's hands which does exactly that: increase violence. No--it is a tool of violence. If you put a bat in a persons hands, this in no way necessitates violence (although it certainly could be used in such a manner). Now, why not attempt to address the root causes of violence in the US rather than the superficial manifestation (which is subject to vary)? 2

If that is true then it only serves as confirmation that we absolutely need to change our gun laws to suit the more dangerous environment in which we all live. WHY do you see no reason for change after the willful killing of 17 young people by a crazed lunatic with an assault rifle? Please, and fucking please don't start slobbering on about drunken drivers killing hundreds. That's a different issue and can be raised for debate under separate cover. Think of the bereaved families and loved ones of the teenagers who were deliberately slaughtered before they had a chance to even start to live their lives. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. GUN LAWS MUST BE SIGNIFICANTLY TIGHTENED Stricter gun laws will prevent some criminals and potential criminals from obtaining fire arms, yes. But not all. However.. And those these laws will likely save some lives down the line. Who knows? Maybe if the lakeland or Columbine or Sandy hook dipshits would have had more trouble getting weopons, they would have abandoned their plan. Or gotten psychiatric help. Or been busted and locked up for something else. And there is absolutely zero reason any of those idiots should have been able to purchase assault weapons. Period. We don't want to take away that nine mil you have in your nightstands for home protection, genius. We just want to make it impossible for deranged psychos to legally get their hands on weapons. If you cannot grasp this, I have nothing left to offer. You're going to refer to any opinion opposing your own as liberal babble anyway. Right, Charm School boy? Cheers Gangs have an army of guns & kill more people than this. You'd protest to disarm them, but you can't because most gang members aren't white. How would they protect themselves from the police? Speaking of Orwell. It's mind boggling to watch you use arguments that you have called stupid when others used it. You: the odds of being killed by a Muslim are....blah blah blah, so it'd be stupid to ban Muslims. Opponent: The odds of being killed by a gun are blah blah blah, so it'd be stupid to ban them. You: That's stupid. Me: No. You are fucking stupid. 1

You are the exact problem with this nation, filled with people brainwashed by fake news. You say and I quote..... "Please, don't start slobbering on about drunken drivers killing hundreds. That's a different issue and can be raised for debate under separate cover." ROFLOL, are you kidding me? You just ignored a much worse problem with the deaths of our children, and you sluff it off as a separate issue! THAT SEPARATE ISSUE IS NEVER ADDRESSED BY THESE GUN HATING DEMOCRATS! We have had these drunk driving deaths of children for our entire lives, and the Left never talks about back ground checks of repeat DWI drivers! WHY IF THE ENTIRE CONCERN IS SAVING LIVES OF CHILDREN? All the Left ever does is try to pass waste of time gun laws that with one in ten mass shootings might have cut down on the number of casualties while never fixing the core problem! Do you drink? Gee I wonder why you are not willing to have background checks in bars to save lives? What kind of fools put bandaids on problems and never address the core problems causing the killings. It's not the weapon, it the killer behind the weapon. This is all about the Left's goal of taking our guns as they have done in Europe. I have no problem with common sense gun laws that do not take our hunting rifles holding 10 rounds etc. The Left never describes what an assault rifle would be. They lump hunting guns in with the so called assault rifles. You are obviously quite ignorant of how much more severe DUI laws have gotten in the USA over the past three decades. I suggest you research this issue. Second time DUI drivers are often incarcerated. They may lose their licenses for life. A second DUI can also be a felony. Thus, the driver is now a convicted felon for life and is subject to facing all the restrictions. Like not buying a firearm legally, genius. So...with the drastically increased and severe DUI laws we see a case where government has instituted change in an attempt to save lives in the future. So....why are you gun nuts opposed to government doing the same for gun control in the wake of continued mass murders? Get a grip, man. Wake up. Cheers. 1

This is a myth. It isn't true. I've looked into it and mass shootings -- including school shootings -- have occurred since the 17th century. It is true that they have increased in number, but so has the number of guns in circulation and so has the population itself. In fact, in the last 60 years the population of the United States has doubled, from 174.9 million in 1958, to 323.1 million in 2016. 1

You are being very deceptive with your research. Those shootings from the past usually boiled down to jealousy or anger between students and teachers. These attacks were seldom done to randomly kill unknown children. This is a new phenomenon and being used to demonize the gun. 1

https://www.biography.com/people/ Yes, there have been very few mass killings in schools, and the one you are referring to was done out of anger against the school board and community for all of the killers problems. He worked in the school system, killed his wife for a distraction, and then planted bombs at the school. No guns were used. 1

He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword said Yeshua somewhere in Revelation. What would He say about guns? Also, Canada and Australia have restrictive gun control, and hardly any gun crimes. We are the only country in the world to allow mental patients to obtain and use automatic weapons after GETTING AWAY WITH shooting their own mother, the FBI failed to heed the tip that came in about the Florida shooter, and the majority of Americans favor some form of gun control. You wanna talk prolife? I got yo prolife accross the board, okay? Try not to get upset, but I am really confused. 1

Yes, the sword! There are thousands of items that could be used as a weapon. The Democrat Party singles out guns because they want to strip our constitutional freedoms to have guns. It is already illegal for anyone to sell an automatic weapon. ABORTION IS LEGAL IN THIS NATION THANKS TO PEOPLE WHO ELECT THOSE THAT KEEP IT LEGAL! IT'S ALREADY AGAINST THE LAW TO KILL PEOPLE, EXCEPT FOR BABIES! 1

Christian cultural influence waned after the Scopes Monkey Trial. Many Christians suddenly retreated behind church doors; pulling back from active community engagement and outreach. Churches that care enough about people and the truth, to the point where the members will actively seek lost sinners to tell them of the power of the gospel which can save them from Hell, are a rare and precious thing today. Thanks to so many churches going into survival/protectionist mode after the Monkey Trial, American culture has slid progressively toward Gomorrah. Today we have very few churches that hold to the old ways and do not stop trying to reach out. Television was preached against fervently in practically every pulpit in every denomination 60 years ago. Today many Christians watch the Hollywood whores showing off all their curves like high priced prostitutes and actually think the dirty women are pretty....and worse, those Christians think ungodly music written and performed by dope heads, satanists, and all around perverts is good entertainment. Those Christians who accommodate the profane and call it "innocent entertainment" are the ones primarily responsible for the rise of abortion and homosexuality endorsed by law in a land where many of our forefathers would turn over in their graves if they could see how wicked America has become. 1
