Also, 6 is the first perfect number, and it contains 3 of those. Not to mention that it is also the first composite number that has at least 4 factors, and 3 is its biggest prime factor.
I believe you have the right answer to this debate. I just want to let everyone knows, what i really wanted to say about this argument. But, can you answer this: If it contains three of those, then why is it three?
I'm going to take a dive in this and try to answer. In most area's of belief, the number three is a sacred number. The holy trinity (or shield of the trinity), The three jewels of Buddhism, The Three Pure Ones from Taoism and the Triple Goddess of Wiccan belief. Jesus rose after three days, there are three virtues in Zoroastrianism, Odin endured three hardships in his quest in Norse mythology, and the Wiccans have a rule of three.
It's really fascinating when you look into how many cultures have a belief or superstition regarding the number three and its occurrences. So having a number, such as 7 (which is regarded as a holy number) occurring 3 times represents a holy trinity, and if one believe in the power of numbers would also strengthen what the number represents.
It's not a matter of answering how I want it, just speculation as to why there are three of the number six in 666, and one possible answer to the question MzKen asked. Kind of like how 777, in religion, is important.

That's probably some obsolete religion which used to be rather popular when people were ignorant, in the Dark Ages.
666 is the 2/3 of 1000, 3 being the first number that gives a non terminating decimal expansion, 2 being the only even prime, and the only number between 1, the unitary number and 3, the denominator, which is a significant number. 1000 is just a matter of placing our decimal; also used as the unit in per mille system.
It's a miraculous number, as such significance can not be caused by chance.
On the one hand ancient religious texts say it's the number of the devil. But on the other hand, those texts are made up by people and served their political purpose at their time whether it was scaring the crap out of people so they'd follow orders or taunting rivals who disagreed. Ultimately it's just a number. A fine number.
I think it has more to do with superstition. Like walking under a ladder or breaking a mirror, only this superstition has a basis in religion which makes it more prevalent and powerful to most people.

You guys need to realize that God is on the fence about what you can do. And how do I know this? Because I communicate with him everyday, just like you guys.

In some theories 666 may have not literally referred to a future anti-Christ, but may have been a codeword for either Roman Emperor Caligula or Nero who persecuted Christians.
Whether or not there was a deeper philosophical or theological meaning is worth investigation; the link between 666 and carbon is definitely intriguing, as it is from carbon which physical life on Earth comes from, seemingly tying in with the statement that 666 is "the number of man".
Well, according to Wikipedia, 666 is an angel number, so it should be a "fine number". I do not believe in numerology, nor am I religious. But every time something bad happened, I was seeing the number 666 everywhere as if it were a sign from hell!
