A question for Christians

This is not a question for all christians - only the homofobic christians.

How come you can marry liars, cheaters, people who work on Sabbath, people who don't honor their father&mother or killers - but you can not marry homosexuals?

According to the bible, God thinks all sins are equal. So if you can't marry homosexuals because it's a sin - you can't marry everyone. Because as you probably know, WE ARE ALL SINNERS. Why are you trying to chose which people are good in God's eyes, if there is a God - he is probably very much capable of doing that himself.

God told us to not judge, be kind to our enemies - even love our enemies. Joh 16:3: *For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through.*

God didn't even send Jesus to judge anyone - so I'm asking why the hell should we?

Good question. :)

Though just to play devil's advocate, The Bible does advise not to marry, anyway. I believe even Jesus advises not to marry (though I may be wrong on that).

PS: Not a Christian, but the subject attracted my interest.

Yes you are right.

Jesus encourages us to not marry, and instead give our lives 100% to honor him.

thats not true at all the catholic church recognizes there are different callings. The religious life (priests) and the family life, both of which are equal

I'm not homophobic, but I don't agree with it. Yes the bible says a sin is a sin, they are all the same. But they can all be forgiven. As for same sex marriage the bible firmly states, man shall not lay with another man. I have yet to see very many people stand up and say I have been with the same sex I have sinned I know it please lord forgive me.

Why should they apologize to the Lord, for being something he created?

exactly... .

I'm not homophobic but I'll tell you why I don't believe in homosexual marriage.

1) You can be around liars, thieves, prostitutes, etc. but participating in their acts is bad. Its a sin to engage in homosexuality but not a sin to be around those who do.

2) Marriage is only between a man and woman in the Bible. A heterosexual woman can marry a homosexual man and vice verse, a heterosexual man can marry a homosexual woman. Even this is acceptable: a homosexual man marrying a homosexual woman. The thing is this, marriage is intended for man and wife to become united (one unit, connection, friendship, partnership, etc.) and reproduce.

Obviously men can't produce with men and women can't produce with women, but maybe it is a good thing. There are so many abandoned children that we need more people who cannot reproduce to be able to adopt them all. So called good wholesome people who are abusing the power to have children are leaving them behind, in my mind that is more sin than men sleeping with men. Besides there are other male and female couples who can't have children: people with fertility issues (who might as well be homosexual because they are useful in that department) and older couples who have missed the deadline.

Being around sinners isn't what we're debating.

But you didn't really answer the question.

Why can a priest marry two liars, but not marry two homosexuals?

because the bible says all sins are equal bad.

and reproduce.

I am steril. I am born with a disease that makes me unable to reproduce. Does that make me uncapable of marriage, in God's eyes?

I already told you. A homosexual can marry if it is between a man and a woman. The Biblical definition of marriage is between man and woman only.

Reproduction is one facet of marriage, yes. But as 1 Corinthians 7 says, you should marry to get rid of your lusts... but remember that marriage is Biblically only for man and woman.

k so what makes you think the bible, which may be the most primitive book commonly accepted as truth, is right? also are you then saying it is a sin to get married and not reproduce for whatever reason?

The question is for Christians and so it assumes that the Bible is to be considered as true for the sake of the argument. The debate is not the reliability of the Bible.

No, I am saying that reproduction is one of the fundamentals of marriage... along with unity and satisfying lusts.... but you must remember that in the Bible, there is no such thing as homosexual marriage.

Marrying a liar, a cheater, a murderer or a theif doesn't make you a liar, cheater, murderer or a theif.

Marrying a homosexual does.

What has this to do with anything?

Why can a priest marry two liars in his Church - but not marry two homosexuals? The sins are equal.

Marrying a homosexual does.

Marrying a homosexual does not make you homosexual.

I can marry a woman - but I'm not a homosexual.

It is a good question, one that really needs to be addressed within the Christian community. There are so called "fundamentalists" within the Christian faith who cannot even hold true to our core beliefs. I do believe homosexuality is a sin, but I'm not going to go say hateful things to them because I would just be a hypocrite not to mention a dick. I do believe that homosexuality is a sin, however I believe to job of the government is to protect others from injustices done to them by others. While I don't morally agree with gay marriage I do not think it is harmful to others and I see no good reason why it should not be allowed.

If I spelled something wrong sorry I have better things to do than read over this 5x
