If you are alone, it doesn't mean you are lonely. If you fill up your time, you have no time for being lonely.

To be alone and to be lonley are tweo different things, OK, but even if you fill up your time you can still be lonley. lONLEY IS where you feel alone. no matter what you do there will still be an empty space in your heart.

One is the actual state of being alone, the other is the associated feeling. I imagine the main reason we avoid the state is to avoid the associated feeling, so I'd say it's better to be alone than it is to feel lonely.

Alone(p): lacking companions or companionship; "he was alone when we met him"; "she is alone much of the time"; "the lone skier on the mountain"; "a lonely fisherman stood on a tuft of gravel"; "a lonely soul"; "a solitary traveler".

If you are alone, and perfectly fine with that, then is it much better than spending time with others and feeling alone; if you are in the company of others, and feel lonely/alone, then mentally you are feeling seperate from others, and maybe even excluded. If you constantly spennd time with others, this seperate mentally will just be highlighted, and enforced.

Side: Alone

Popular people can be alone. Like when using the lavatory. Lonely people however, are perpetually alone, very sad.

Side: Alone

A person is strong who can stand alone. It takes good stamina to want to be alone.

lonely, means you need company which gives you an incentive to seek out company. Alone means your past that stage of being lonely, which is quite sad. Alone is not healthy and it can bring out enormous amounts of depression.

People in asylums are never alone either. The voices in their heads keep them company through even the darkest times.

Side: Alone

Being alone and Being lonely are not the same thing. You can be with people and still feel lonely

OK, so you don't nesisarily have to be alone to be lonley.

Sycalogical stastisctics show that people that have other people around them to support do better. You need people around you for every thing. I would rather be lonley because if you are alone that is just - horrible. Besides, if you are christian you are never alone or lonley.

If you're lonely when in the presence of others, then you, mentally, feel isolated and cut off from the rest which only serves to highlight your loneliness.

For example: there's a guy who's feeling lonely whilst in the company of his friends. He is feeling lack companions/hip whilst with others - the interaction with just serve to highlight and worsen his loneliness, especially if he is feeling that the people around him are excluding him.

Sometimes interactions just don't help.

Also, don't bring religion into this.
