Alternate universe:If Barack Obama was just Barry Obama

Lets be real with ourselves here, if Barack Obama was a white person do you think he would be getting as much hate by the Republicans as he does now, reason I ask is because Bill Clinton got far less hell by the republicans and there was no crazy tea party nutbags created, birther crap pulled on Bill Clinton, I think the true face of American came out 2008 as most whites saw that they are no longer in power. I see nothing more then flat out pure racism & fear.

I think your right look at all the flak he has received for allegedly being a Muslim and the demands for seeing his passport if he had been white i'm sure this would'nt have been such a big deal

Yeah that's my point, the only reason the republicans came out with this "let me see your papers" is because he was Black, proof is no other Demo white president had to go though that crap, the funny thing is people that don't see this seem to be in denial.

Because a white face still keeps a white person in power.

I can't believe we have to listen to this mindless 'Republicans and the Tea Party don't like Obama because he's black' bullshit for another four years. Oh, and Clinton was impeached over lying about sex... I don't remember the Republicans running around saying how much they loved Bubba? The fact is Clinton worked with the Republicans... so far, Barry hasn't.

He will be HATED asdfa

Just because of the change of the race

It's so convenient when you have a young black man leading your party. Anyone who opposes him for any reason can be called racist, and a lot of the stupid majority will believe it. If only I had billions of dollars, I'd go find a young black man with Obama-type stick-up-my-ass swag and make him head of my new political party.

I agree it is easy to pull "the race card" when we have a black pres. but when the republican party comes out with this "hes not one of us" or "show me your papers" I mean com on really, how is one not to see racism, have you ever seen any other Pres. get crap like that?, lets face is deep down inside most people can't stand to see a black in as Pres.

The "show me your papers" thing is not relevant to why Republicans oppose him, but I'll address it anyway. The Republican Party doesn't endorse that intolerance. The Tea Party, right-wing talk show hosts and in general stupid Americans do. I'm no fan of Republicans either, but even if some Republicans believe deep down he's not a citizen they aren't about to admit it to the media and the public in general. It's political suicide. So I don't know what you're hearing that I'm not. The fact is that Republicans reject Obama because of his policies (big surprise), not his race. Plus, the world is not so black-and-white that you can just assert that the only party that tolerates black people running for office is the Democrats. There are racists on both sides of the aisle, history has shown that. If you want specifics, I'll give 'em.

Lets be honest here... It's more likely that Obama was voted into office because he's black rather than being voted against by the republicans because of his race. Republicans don't like him for a few reasons, one of the obvious reasons being that he is democrat. Plus, he's only half black. That's like calling a mule a donkey. A mule isn't a donkey and it definitely isn't a horse. A mule is a mule. I think if anything, his name should be more controversial than his skin color. It's Barack Hussein Obama. I know he didn't choose his name but when you have the name of one of the worst dictators of the last decade and a last name that sounds so close to Usama that I have to constantly correct myself when referring to either of them, it has make you wonder how the hell he was allowed to run for president in the first place.

pretty much all of American Blacks have some white in them at this point, also the people put him in office and yes many might of put him in power due to the fact that he is black but mostly the people at this point are sick of America's bigotry and allot of those people are white, good white people that care nothing about color and just want to see us live in a world without bigotry, voting Obama was a statement directed at hate and the removal of church and state.

What gives you that idea? Most of them are descendants of slaves. Interracial marriages and biracial children are not as frowned upon anymore, if that is what you are referring to, but this does not mean that the majority of African-Americans are mixed.

I know that not all people put him in office because he is black. This certainly isn't the reason I supported him back in '08. I supported him because he seemed like a breath of fresh air. He didn't come off as a typical politician and seemed to me like a trustworthy guy. But as many of us found out, he is a typical politician and he is not a very trustworthy guy. Chicago politicians have somewhat of a reputation for being corrupt, but I figured that Chicago senator was going to be different. As for America's bigotry, may I ask where you are from? England? They are not much different. Their system is just as broken as ours.

voting Obama was a statement directed at hate and the removal of church and state.

Directed at hate? Hate for what? Blacks? Now you're contradicting yourself. And the removal of church and state? I'm not sure I follow. How did Obama make any difference in that?
