Anyone who understands computing would know that Android offers more in:

1) Programming capabilities

2) Memory space per dollar spent

3) App variety and extent as well as ability to build free apps via methods such as MIT app inventor etc.

Anyone who doesn't know programming knows only this:

1) iPhone is more mainstream (statistics suggest otherwise but it's all about the advertising and reputation).

2) iPhone screen breaks easier but battery lasts longer than Android's generally.

The problem with number 2 is that Apple put so much effort into their battery that they do not even leave you a screw with which to open the case and replace it with your own. They insist on you using their battery, their phone model, their everything and sure they do make it good, I'm not doubting that. But 'good' is very generic. Some people want a gaming-oriented phone, others want a work-oriented one and android has all kind sof aspeicalisations that apple cannot begin to compete with because android only bothers with the software spending all their money on it only owning one hardware company named HTC, while allowing any other hardware company to make specialized alternatives for their brilliant software which their entirety of the budget is spent on to excel in. HTC is not taken from the software budget, rather form its own profit singularly.
