I believe that dogs are not dumb. My reason for my decision is because I find it smart of the dogs to be able to hear a command and follow it based on the outcomes.

They are smart in their own way because they don't really approach new things but they remember old ones.

Dogs are smart

Dogs are very smart, compared to cats. Dogs can be trained to be police dogs, drug sniffing dogs, shepherds, therapy dogs, guard dogs, and many other things as well. The idea that cats are smarter than dogs is not always true.

Are dogs smart?

I think dogs are smart, because they can be trained to find things, help people in need, and even normal dogs can be good alert dogs! I have two dogs who bark at EVERYTHING, so they would make good alert dogs if something happens.

I think dogs have the ability to learn and be smart. Like we have taught our dogs to get outside the gate. It was a good thing when we did not have a lock on it, now it is so so. But I do think dogs are smart if they chose and if they are taught.

I honestly think that dogs are smart because they are able to learn tricks, for example, "a dog might be clever enough to fetch his leash when he wants to go out."

On page 14 it says, "Dogs are much smarter than chickens, its probably because dogs are good at learning the things we want them to learn. for example: you can teach a dog to fetch but try doing that with a chicken."

Now, I just want to say something here. Say someone is snowboarding and they get trapped in ice and snow, the rescue team wont be able to find them unless they have a rescue dog with them. THINK ABOUT THAT!!!

Dogs may not be as intelligent as other animals, but they are not dumb. Dogs know what they need to know for them to live. In the article it said, "All animals have the ability to learn things that are important to them" "Otherwise they wouldn't survive" Each animal has different skills and abilities, so if they were to make a test to see if every animal was smart or not, it wouldn't be fair. " Even if you could find a test that was perfectly fair to all animals, in a way it's silly to ask whether one kind of animal is smarter than another."

I think dogs are smart because they can be trained to do amazing things like sense that a robber is ne'er.

I don't really think dogs are smart but I don't think they are dumb either...

They are smart because my dog remembers everything!! We normally give him a treat when he comes in the garage. The days we don`t, he walks over towards the fridge looking at me like im a idoit. GIMME A TREAT. He is saying in his head. He knows when someone comes up the diveway and protects me and family. I think he is a smart dog there a many other things he does that are smart i think he is very smart.

I am sort of on the fence, but dogs are smarter than they seem, being able to hunt their own food, but they also do some stupid things. (like chase their own tail)

I think dogs are smart because of many reasons. One reason I'm just saying because a great majority of people think dogs chase their tail because they are dumb, but its really mostly because they are bored and need play or a walk. (My cat chases her tail when she is extremely bored, or wants attention, and she is very smart) Dogs can help people do stuff too, like more that the 'go get the newspaper and go get your leash and yada yada yada'. A fun fact: Scientists have agreed that the most intelligent breed of dog is the Border Collie. They most of the time herd sheep, but that doesn't prove anything. If dogs were dumb why would there be a fire dog, a police dog and dog's that find people that got stuck in snow and dogs that literally see for SOMEBODY! if dogs were dumb then we are dumb to have a dumb "man's best friend"!!!
