How exactly are they ruining our economy? By working jobs domestic workers refuse to work? Or by helping to keep inflation low since they work for less than minimum wage?

I'm from South Florida and I know many immigrants. Can't think of any reason why they'd be hurting the economy. They spend and contribute to Florida sales tax, they buy products from merchants, and they work undesireable jobs.

God bless immigrants.

HERE HERE! The only person that would willingly do those unfavorable jobs that illegal immigrants do, as far as I know, is that guy from Dirty Jobs. (Mike Rowe is it?)

I agree, we actually have crops that are rotting because there are less "immigrants" to work harvesting. Our government, of course pays farmers for fruit, etc. that doesn't make it to market. It's a waste. What does it say about America (land of immigrants) when we say "go back"? To me it's greedy and rude. Of course people need to be vaccinated, background checked, (red tape, red tape)...but why stop making America what it's always been? A melting pot.

Of course that is a negative side, does it necessarily effect the country in a whole? or just the lower class citizens? And like I previously stated, all citizens born in this country have the chance to improve their lifestyles. And just because our current president is a dumbass doesn't mean that we can't take measures to fix this unjust charity. But on the other hand, just as many legal citizens come here and have jobs for a few years and pay taxes on their pay checks just like any regular citizen does, but they don't stay here long enough to reap the benefits. In other words, those that put into the pot that don't take from it, are replaced by those who don't put into the pot but DO take from it. Therefore creating an equal distribution of money, which has no harm to our country's well-being.

As a citizen of these wonderful united states, I am opposed to illegal immigrants being allowed to roam freely on our streets, but I do not believe them to be necessarily harmful to our country's well-being. As the great comedian Carlos Mencia once said, "They are here, why not find a use for them? Give one of the guys on the street $5 just to ride in your car during rush hour so you can go into the carpool lane on your way to work. Give him another $5 and you got yourself your own human alarm system for your car!" Although flawed, this argument makes a lot of sense. Every US citizen is born with the opportunity to make themselves a good life, and it is not fair of those who denied that chance to complain when Illegals are taking all the less-than-minimum-wage jobs there are. If anything, those who are complaining should want to get there butts in gear and persue a better life for themselves and their family!

Now that you mention it, what bothers me is how the word amnesty is used to slay any negotiation that intends to address the immigration problem. It is reasonable to expect people from other countries (including Mexico) to move to the United States. After all, unless you are Native American (or maybe a Viking) then your ancestors did!

Now that you mention it, I have to respond on the contrary.

I think "illegal" immigrants are only "bad" to for our country because of the laws, not because of the immigrants existence.

I think we should legalize those who are here without proper documentation, have them pay taxes and give them the power to vote in 7 years. This is like illegal prostitution, or the war on drugs.

If it's made illegal, it doesn't make people stop, it just excludes the government from dealing with it in any other way than penalization.

Prostitutes, where they are illegal, deal with pimps for security, because the law isn't their for them. Pimps aren't good, but they won't throw you in jail because you cannot make a living any other way.

Drugs are still available to the masses, through shady means that are usually untried and unregulated.

The government's doing a great job at making things worse...

Illegal immigrants are good, though, unlike the other two, and if you had any bit of compassion or understanding, most would agree. They help the economy by working jobs that most don't want to do, or never even think of doing, and they'll work for less. They add to our cultural diversity, and with legalization it will not only grow more tolerable (which we should already be because they are humans) but more familiar and probably much more appreciable.

Think about it, when you think of a Canadian immigrant what comes to mind? What do you think about Mexican immigrants?

Now think about why they are coming here. Are Canadians coming for the same reason Mexicans are? Probably NOT! Mexico is a dump compared to Canada, they are coming here to get away from that. Canadians? Who knows why they are coming here.

Mexicans are coming here to better their lives, whether it's legal or not, and people here see them as dirty, poor, problematic... and illegal. They are dirty and poor because they aren't legal. I know plenty of Mexican immigrants that share my living standards, and then I know more, who are illegal, that I would not want to live with. This is what people see, and this is a misunderstanding.

The stereotypical "immigrant" is an illegal Mexican in America... We already understand this, how can you not, and then on top of that, it's the mariachi music, manudo, cowboy hats and snake skin boots and their "awful" mexican language that is being printed and painted all over California, on labels, on menus, on etc. and they are dirty and live in a dirty house with chickens in the front yard...

Great, I'm sure all of you got a kick out of that... What a perfect explanation of what an immigrant is.

I think we all need to grow up, and let people in, legalize them (for a small fee) if they are willing or deny them if they are not, bring in the tax money that they are using if they aren't legal, etc, .... PROFIT!

Yes! And i've heard, not necessarily from a reliable source, that the number of illegal immigrants, if legalized and made to pay taxes in the Southern California area alone would be able to end a lot of the budget cuts put in place by either the school board or the governator! (Assuming that we used the money wisely and to our advantage) [; besides, there is no reason to hate them, because even illegals pay taxes on their pay checks when/if they get jobs. and pretty much all the food in this country has taxes on it, so when they use welfare money they are paying taxes, and their money goes back to the government for the most part. But the thing that truly bugs me about illegals, is that everyone says that they are easy to point out in a crowd but i have yet to notice one yet!!! ]': lol!
