No, not necessarily at least, pansexuals are just those whom prefer pansexual over bisexual, for many reasons. The major difference between bisexuality and pansexuality is the acknowledgment of genders beyond simply male and female. Bisexuals might be pansexual, might not, but I think all pansexuals are definitely bisexual if bisexual means attracted to both genders. Of course we don't say bisexuals are both homosexual and heterosexual at the same time implying that's homos and heteros are only attracted to the same and opposite respectively, so does that mean bisexual means only being attracted to both? I don't know. Apparently though there is tension between pansexuals and bisexuals, which is a bit silly to me. Side: No they are not.

Not at all. Sure, pragmatically speaking, the term "pan-sexual" over "bisexual" is usually pretty useless, owning to the fact that not many people NEED to know the nuances of one's sexuality. However, labels aren't just for other people. Labels can also help one with identifying their own sexuality. There are of cause differences between the two labels (even if they aren't significantly important). To put it simply, bisexuals have sexual interest in both sexes. Notice the prefix "bi". This means that this form of sexuality does not include the more non-linear sexual identities, only male and female. Also, a bisexual person can like the two sexes in different ways and in different amounts. "Pan sexuality" on the other hand is more inclusive. In fact, it completely ignores sex. To the pan sexual person, gender isn't an issue in choosing a sexual partner. Side: No they are not.

Calling pansexuals pretentious bisexuals is about as accurate and non-derogatory as calling bisexuals gays who are afraid to admit it. It's really ridiculous when you get down to it. How can someone claiming bisexuality be gay but afraid to admit it? If, as a man, I'm open to relations with another man, how does also being open to relations with women change or negate that in any way? The difference is there because a bisexual individual, while attracted to both males and females, may still be put off by, say, a hermaphrodite or transexual. I am, if I have to admit it... I tend to be attracted to generally masculine males and generally feminine females, but effeminate males and (most) tomboys don't really seem to do it for me. Hermaphrodites and transexuals put me right off. Hence, I identify as bi, rather than pan. In theory, a pansexual individual would be open to all of these types; it's really a wonderful ideal, I think, I just can't manage it myself. I guess we're attracted to who we're going to be attracted to. Side: No they are not.
