Shopping Malls are usually warm and brightly lit, covered centres with a comprehensive range of shops and restaurants. They almost always offer either free of reduced fee car parking facilities that offer easy access to all the shops. All this is available to the Mall shopper while outside the high street shopper drives around to find a parking space, then they have to brave the elements as they go from shop to shop, dodging traffic, waiting for traffic lights to permit them safe passage over the roads as they hunt for the goods they want. They do all this, often during inclement weather, and without the aid of a shopping trolley. I rest my case. Side: Yes? Why?
Alternatively, one could spend even less time purchasing anything and everything they could possibly want or need from the internet from the comfort of their own home without having to deal with the congestion and stress of driving, parking, and maneuvering through the mall. They will not have to leave their home in inclement weather at all, and all products can be delivered to their front door at little to no additional cost. Seems to me that the mall is verging into obsolescence, but maybe that is just my personal dislike of malls shining through. Side: Yes? Why?
Certainly. We may be able to order items online, but you can't really beat the 'experience' of entering a store, particularly if it bears a lot of esteem (e.g. Harrods), then there are timeless attributes that people will hanker for. Then of course there is being confronted face to face with the merchandise itself and being able to try it on. All of these aspects could not be got from behind a screen. Side: Yes? Why?

I read an interesting article "The Death of the Mall/Cities/America" in the Guardian where once thriving businesses are now empty corridors In other articles some have been used as zombie movie sets or are being proposed for development into housing projects These malls have simply turned into empty corridors with no purpose anymore that some claim are a victim of the internet shopping and others just a passing phase in areas that have changed but the mall has not been able to adapt.
