Are social networking sites an internet threat for those who are underage?
Social networking on the Internet is an integral part of many peoples lives. Many do this everyday. However, there are those who are underage, yet falsify their age (i.e. a 12 year old girl puts her age as 15). Considering the lack of maturity in lots of youths today, is it right to justify social networking sites as an Internet threat for those underage? Please name the social networking site you are talking about (if there are any specific).

I will start by saying i use Bebo and Facebook. I never warmed to MySpace. I find it a perfectly safe enviorment. Of course every now and then you will get the odd paedophile but even if the girls are underage they are very aware of the potential risks of meeting strangers. So the vast majority of people who use bebo and facebook are safe and make there own choices. Side: Yes it is a threat!

Depends on what you mean by threat. When I first saw the debate I was thinking something like hearing curse words, or a naked ladies, in which case I would say no, that's ridiculous because there's nothing wrong with curse words and naked girls. But from the predetor aspect, I would say yeah, But it's not the social media's fault, you can't blame them, It's ultimately the parents responsibility to do everything they can to protect their kids, not internet's tv's radio's or anyone else's Still though, sometimes no amount of protection is enough, and it's no one's fault but the predators, which sucks, but it's not an excuse to go on an internet witch hunt. Side: as safe as anything
