What is your philosophy of Evil? Do you view it as an inextricable part of the human condition? Do we all internally struggle with it, or does a 'pure-hearted' individual exist? There is no objective basis for "good" and "evil". I view them as social constructs which are useful in some context but not ultimately aligned with reason. I think the height of civilization is to have a society that does not require a social construct to co-operate and treat each other fairly, but instead understands why civilization and co-existence is logical on an objective practical basis. In the future, I hope that we will move beyond a culture where people are conditioned into moral values through brainwashing and repetition and progress to one where people are conditioned with critical thinking and taught to have a true understanding of what civilization is and why it is optimal. If you assume that there is such a thing as good and evil, then it can be said that no one is entirely evil and no one is innocent, including babies and children. What we call "evil" is the result of neurological and environmental factors beyond the "evil" person's control. What we call "innocence" is merely another word for ignorance. I have internally struggled with evil, but I learned through reason to be good. But not "good" according to morality, good according to the progress of civilization. |
