Ask yourself why gun control fanatics are fearful of guns. Is fake news fear mongering?
I'm not a gun control fanatic. As I've said other times on this site I actually have a Massachusetts license to conceal carry and they're hard to come by.
But with that said, I believe in common sense public safety. I don't believe any component of the Constitution was meant to allow zero public safety accomodations. Heck, even freedom of speech still allows for laws against libel and slander. People have a right to own so long as they're legal age, legally sane, pass a basic backgrounding for risks, and pass basic safety and awareness training. That doesn't mean they have a right to a rocket launcher or armor piercing munitions or to owning more guns than their local police department all combined.
The slippery slope arguments that any restriction at all is a violation and doomed to fail is the true hysteria. In comparison, wanting your kids to go to school with relatively no risk of them being machine gunned down is not fanaticism or fear mongering. That's the common sense group. The slippery slope group is the fanatics.
