Debt caused the West's decline, spurred on by poor management for two centuries. Religion vs atheism has nothing to do with debt. Separate from the $$$$ factor the West is otherwise free and vibrant compared to absolutely everything else which doesn't fall within the "West" reference. Side: Atheism did not cause decline

If this were true it seems pretty shady for Christian colleges to charge so much for tuition basically causing people to go in debt. Also must be nice to simply pay cash for a house. or... You could read this in proper context (not even context, just learn to read) and notice it says do not let debt remain outstanding. This doesn't mean you can't go in debt. Atheism is a strength, not a weakness. Atheists don't accept things on "faith", instead atheists question things and think critically. Also, atheists as a group, commit less crime than religious people and many more scientists are atheists than are religious. Side: Atheism did not cause decline

When people form their beliefs (I am not using "beliefs" in a religious context here) in knowledge, their minds can easily be changed when new evidence is presented.
