Atheism is the foundation of liberalism

Most atheists are liberals and liberalism is all about how they feel sorry for everyone and how they are going to take care of everyone and the environment. They don't want to hear, "That's God's job!" So they have to discredit God first before they can tell you that it's OK for you to get an abortion and help some young teen to get an abortion without the parent's knowledge. ;)

I may not have thought all this through yet because it's 5:30 AM and my need to piss someone off is stronger than my need to get a cup of coffee, wake up and process information. But I'm sure I'll get lots of help from my allies and lots of responses from my enemies, so..... ;)

Liberalism is the willingness to discard traditional values and an openness to new behaviors and opinions, taken directly from the dictionary.

While it can be argued that atheism discards traditional values, or demands openness to new behaviors and opinions, they are not one and the same.

Side: Wait..., what..., no!

I didn't say they were the same, I said that liberalism needs atheism. Not the other way around.

Side: True

It's fortunate there are people (be they liberal or otherwise) who don't wait around hoping God will start doing his job.

0.4-1.6% of Americans are atheists (the studies I looked at differed on whether or not they bothered to listen to what atheists referred to themselves as). I would hardly call atheism the foundation of liberalism considering at best they'd make up about 4% of liberals.

Now, if you want to talk about secular philosophy...you know, the ability to entertain a thought without attributing it to God somehow?

I would hardly call atheism the foundation of liberalism considering at best they'd make up about 4% of liberals.

The remaining 96% of liberals are the other minorities looking for a handout (welfare, handicap parking spots, etc.). ;)

what you are talking about in correlative at best and with correlations you can not say one caused the other

and my atheism is based on my studies, and educational endeavors not a misguiding view that it is the only why to help other people.

lastly i think this is a case of psychological projection, as most conservatives now a days cannot think of their political POV without automatically identifying their "christian values"

don't believe that point look up conservapedia for examples on how they are mixed

You're a liberal, aren't you? Come on, admit it. You know you are ;)
