The Constitution does not in any way prohibit the mixing of government and religion. It's sole purpose is to prevent a government sponsored and supported religion to the exclusion of other forms of worship. There isn't a religion that doesn't have their crackpots. Atheism isn't a religion, but that doesn't mean they don't have their crackpots! Some of them have started wars or been cruel leaders, as have religious leaders. That doesn't mean ALL religions are or religious people are crackpots, and it doesn't mean ALL Atheists are crackpots.
