I'm sure there are biological definitions which win this argument for the other side by simply defining them lacking a key criteria to make them life. But the way I look at it, they replicate (through our cells' help), and they change or evolve over time, and they're equal parties (with bacteria) to making humans sick through infection. Sounds like life to me. And even if it technically isn't, we still deal with virus a lot like other living invaders even though we can't use antibiotics on them. Side: No, they are not.
