Black History Month

Why does history have to be black, and why is black history month the shortest month of the year?

Black history month, or African-American month as it is known in the United States, is to remember important black people and their achievements.

To walk into your trap I would continue by pointing out that in the Netherlands for instance it's known as 'Black Achievement Month', which explains the reason why 'Black history month' is held during the shortest month of the year.

Could you imagine the cries of RACISM if is there was a White History Month?

If there was an event celebrating 'white achievement' it would have to be spread over a decade.

I'd be interested to learnwhat their achievements are exactly .

That's exactly the point.

Why all the hype over such issues as ' Black Lives matter';- everyone's life matters.

'Black Power';-- in what form is this BLACK POWER meant to take?

The establishment of job creating commerce, global financial institutes and multi-national industries?;- THAT'LL BE THE DAY

It's the black's who are the true racists and they're never going to change.

Generally speaking ( there are exceptions, many exceptions ) blacks cannot compete successfully in countries which have predominately white populations and administrations.

This inability develops to frustration which soon turns to anger and then on to the standard black violence and a disproportionately high crime rate.

THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN MIX BLACK AND WHITE SUCCESSFULLY ARE PAINTERS.

Black History Month truly is BLACK.

Dr. King was an honorable man.

Is this an oblique reference to Antony's eulogy in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar?

No not really. ........................................................................................

The rest of the months are mainly white, but they need a little gray to represent the winter, so therefore they had to mix in a little black. But just a little, because a little goes a long way.

Why is it you Progressives are so offended by white people Diaper Boy ?

Hillary is white , Nancy is white , Bernie is white , Chuck is white , Diane is white , Mark is white. So please explain your opposition to white people when they are the leaders of your Progressive party.

Because it is the ultimate reality and therefore must be true.

It's a celebration and remembrance of the history and culture of a group of people which has been oppressed for the majority of American history.

The Black History/Black achievement Month is more than a celebration of the culture of black people.

It's to accentuate their achievements and highlight important events in their history.

Replace 'oppressed' with 'partially discriminated against' and you may have a point,

In the interests of racial equality however, it would have been helpful if you had mentioned that blacks discriminate against whites, only more openly.

It's must be pointed out that all other ethnic groups from the many nations that go to make up the Asian and White communities can come to America, work hard, prosper and become an asset to their adopted country.

These numerous groups including the Chinese simply 'get their sleeves rolled up' and 'get stuck in'.

By doing so these groups all have a mutual respect for each other and are tired of the incessant whinging of the blacks never ending moaning and their oh poor us rhetoric.

Until the blacks are made to understand that they, and they alone are the architects of their own plight the black problem will never go away.

Encouraging them to wallow in their self pity only serves to exacerbate and prolong the problem.

If any group had an axe to grind with the world it should be the Jewish people but after the horrors of the holocaust they came back fighting and are a highly successful people both in Israel and all the countries where they reside.

Hello Antrim,

I dunno. You neglected to mention that NONE of these numerous groups were ENSLAVED like black people were... It's kinda hard to 'get stuck in' when you're NOT paid, and you're OWNED by somebody...

No?

Yeah, damn, that whole slavery and segregation thing was pretty minor partial discrimination, amirite?

Those ethnic groups weren't enslaved for centuries then targeted by segregation laws in America, though. History has a huge effect on culture, and the fact that it has only been 53 years since black people gained the right to vote in the US shows just how fresh this issue still is.

Translation: "I'm not racist" divides people into race and then makes broad sweeping prejudgements about the people who fit into these racial categories
