I never said that English was their national language, I said they adopted it as their DE FACTO national language. Check out the word DE FACTO. Actually the common denominator with American accents is that they can all be easily understood. Being from the U.K., I have extreme difficulty comprehending most English accents north of The Wash. I don't even try to understand Scottish nor Northern Irish accents. Side: Pay it
