Burger King or Wendy's???

Which of these two very mainstream fast-food restaurants is the better of the two?

Wendy's

I personally think that Wendy's is a lot better than Burger King. Here's a few reasons:

1. Their chicken nuggets taste better

2. Their barbeque sauce tastes better

3. Their chicken sandwich tastes better

4. Their original burger tastes better

When I was on the road traveling for 5 months, I would mostly eat at Wendy's or burger king(sometimes popeyes, a nigga gotta have some chicken). I tried many things off their menus and found that Wendy's meaty/chicken burgers had so much more delicious flavor than burger king's. The sauces , the food textures, the fries, just about everything was better . Burger King was bland, compared to Wendy's. By the end of my trip I had already settled on Wendy's...and was addicted.

Wendy’s overall

I like Wendy's never frozen grilled to order beef patties compared to Burger Kings flame broiled/ microwaved kind. It may cost a little more (then again I haven’t been there in several months now) and it might take a little longer but you get what you pay for. Both signature burgers (the hot n juicy and the whopper) come with lettuce, tomato and cheese, so that’s good, but when it comes down to burger quality I prefer Wendy’s.

Both places offer additional options for sides, you can substitute fries for chili, baked potato with various toppings or one of a couple different side salads at Wendy’s, while at Burger King you can get onion rings instead of fries, so that’s about equal there.

I haven’t tried Burger King’s full sized salad(s?), but Wendy’s has a few pretty legit ones to choose from. The ratio of lettuce to toppings is decent and they top it off with a warm off the grill sliced chicken breast, the full sized salads are also big enough to save half of it and it doesn’t get all watery in the fridge. Like I said though, I have no real basis for comparison regarding Burger King’s salads.

When going for chicken sandwiches, I like them like my burgers with lettuce, tomato and cheese but for chicken I prefer crispy over grilled and spicy over regular. Last I could remember, Burger King doesn’t offer a spicy chicken sandwich but comparing their deluxe chicken sandwich with a plain Wendy’s Asiago Ranch it’s still a no contest.

Both places offer several options on the value menu. Both places have several customization options for burger assemblage a lot of which at no additional cost...

As for dessert menus I have to give the point to Burger King; they have various sundaes and milk shakes (although poor quality, but it’s a fast food chain so meh) and they have some decent pies, smoothies and frozen coffee drinks. Plus, they’ve teamed up with Cinnabon to offer mini cinnamon buns! Wendy’s has the typical Frosty which is just thick soft serve in a cup which I never much cared for. I also heard somewhere that they serve a parfait? But I don’t know for sure.

Breakfast is another one where I have to give the nod to Burger King. I don’t even remember Wendy’s serving breakfast back in the day so they may be a little late in the game but Burger King has all the typical fast food joint breakfast sandwich options. Wendy’s has a few unorthodox breakfast options and I tried their seasoned breakfast potatoes once and they were pretty great but Burger King has the cheesy tots going for them (if they still make those) and numerous breakfast sandwiches to choose from like the ever popular “croissanwich.”

Considering I rarely go to a fast food joint for breakfast or dessert (and even entirely less so now since a change in diet) I based my decision on the lunch and dinner options and the quality of the sandwiches.

I just love their flame broiled patties. Also, I've been ordering something called a"quad stacker" off of the 'secret' menu a lot lately, and they've yet to mess it up. This is my bias, because I rarely eat at Wendy's. Nothing against Wendy's, if I had no other choice I would eat there, I just prefer B.K.

When I was in high school and starting college, I would have voted Wendy's simply because I LOVED their fried chicken.

Unfortunately, Wendy's (at least in my area) stopped selling Fried Chicken back in the early 2000s, I think around 2002? Wendy's was a one-trick pony in my book, and while I still eat there occasionally (my wife is a fan) I much prefer the food at Burger King since that change was made.

RIP Wendy's Fried Chicken.
