CBO Report on ACA Repeal Costs Is 'Gibberish'

A Congressional Budget Office report asserting a repeal of Obamacare would hike the federal budget deficit by $353 billion is "gibberish" — since a repeal would actually "be a huge tax cut for the American people,"

The true cost of repeal has nothing to do with money. If we repeal Obamacare what is safe? We pay our politicians to make laws not repeal them. There is no stability if laws are just turned off. All the time wasted on trying to repeal Obamacare could be spent on a better solution, but that would involve working.

obamacare is an unconstitutional law. We pay our politicians to create laws in accordance with the Constitution, we do not pay our politicians to make laws to benefit the insurance companies like obamacare does.

The Supreme Court disagrees.

We pay our politicians to create laws in accordance with the Constitution, we do not pay our politicians to make laws to benefit the insurance companies like obamacare does.

I can at least agree with the latter half of this. The ACA is an atrocious law that does very little to solve the actual problems and serves as a massive boon to the already corrupt insurance companies.

obamacare is an unconstitutional law.

False. What part of the constitution was violated?

Politicians make laws all the time that benefit companies. Which part of the constitution is being violated.

It fits with the commerce clause and 10th amendment. You should follow Washington's interpretation of the Constitution.

Who claimed it was 'gibberish' and why? Can you provide a source so that we can be educated in discussing this topic?

Budgetary and Economic Effects of Repealing the Affordable Care Act

Report June 19, 2015

CBO and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation estimate that, over the next decade, a repeal of the Affordable Care Act would probably increase budget deficits with or without considering the effects of macroeconomic feedback.

The CBO don't know.

No one with reason on their side proposes ending the ACA with nothing to replace it. This report assumes something that is not reality. Hence the conclusions are meaningless.

To be fair, the overwhelming majority of the attempts to repeal the ACA did not coincide with comprehensive replacement ideas. Their assumption is based on historical precedent, which while by no means binding, is the best they had to work with.

I do agree with you that those who were attempting to repeal it at the time were therefore without reason, but it happened regardless.

And what evidence do you have to refute the CBO report?

Common sense, no obamacare no cost to the government, hence getting rid of obamacare will not cost anything, in fact it would save money

Common sense

In other words, you have no idea, and no evidence.

hence getting rid of obamacare will not cost anything, in fact it would save money

Yes, because massively changing the economy rapidly is not going to have any effect. It's like you don't think this through at all.

The ACA shifts costs from the government to the people. Repealing it will save individuals money, but cost the government, so the report makes sense.

A repeal of ObamaCare would cause millions to lose their health insurance and this is a tragedy that would not only cause hardship and worry for those who suffer the loss but someone (the taxpayer) has to pay for it.
