Science merely means "knowledge". The purpose of science is to describe how. But you can't describe why with science. Now, one problem with religion is that it does try to define how. By saying that God did it, one way or another. Although, religious leaders currently are trying to spin the stories by saying that they have a deeper meaning and shouldn't be taken literally. Religion, for the purpose of explaining why, can co-exist with science since neither contradict the other. Although, mathematics can bring some kind of interference. Mathematics, though, does bring about different conclusions. Rationality could lead one to either conclude that there is no reason or that there is reason, depending on which theorems you wish to take. So mathematics mixed with philosophy can create more tension in the religious community, and at the same time, it can support religion. Side: yes

But what about when religion attacks science? Yes, I think science does not say there is no room for a god. However, religions do not change there idealogy and continue to teach that things such as the bible are proven facts. Yes, there are educated religous people, but unfortunately there are many people who discredit science and go with the easy to understand god hypothesises. Side: No

Absolutely. Science explains the observed and predicts outcomes. Religion explains the unobservable. Many theories could work for both, if religious people stopped taking texts so damn literally. For instance, evolution doesn't mean God didn't make us. Nor does the fact that the earth is more than 6,000 years old or that dinosaurs walked the earth. I wish religious people could catch up to the times and incorporate scientific evidence into adapted philosophies about religion. Side: yes
