What the habitually offended fail to understand about provocative humor is that it's rarely the taboo subject itself that is the source of humor in a joke (and if it is, then it was a bad joke); more often, a taboo subject simply serves as a vehicle for otherwise common humor. eg: Q: What's the best thing about twenty-five-year-olds? A: There's twenty-five of them. While the subject of this joke is pedophilia, an almost-universally condemned perversion (among first-world countries, at least), the source of humor is a sophomoric pun. This joke could be made funnier by adding new elements of humor, not new elements of offense. Jokes change; subjects don't. That's the point of iconoclasm. Side: Yes, anything can be funny.
I tend to make a few jokes about something that recently happens, no matter how tragic. I don't get too much into it just because... it gets old pretty quick. Just a facebook status, a few comments, and then I move on. Then, a week later, everyone else posts a bunch of shit they found on the internet. Side: Yes, anything can be funny.
