Can you Defend the Logic of Belief?

Yes

Sure here are some premises I'd like to see attacked.

Premise 1: A belief is a condition of the intellect not substantially different than knowledge

Premise 2: These conditions are formed through repetitive experiences

Premise 3: All people have beliefs

Premise 4: Some beliefs are more deeply established than others

Premise 5: Among humans our most deeply held beliefs are essentially identical

Premise 6: Due to semantic idiosyncrasies, identical beliefs are often described differently

Premise 7: Everyone has a "ruling logic" or "theology" that is based on their strongest beliefs

Yes, it is possible to defend nearly anything.

Even faith has a defense: "It might actually be true."

However, is it WISE to defend belief or faith?

No.

In fact, there is probably nothing less wise than to do this. To say that you know something, yet have no reason to know is faith.

It is pure delusion. Even if it comes true, it was still delusion prior to that.

Defending it is a foolish move, yet, in the past, faith has always been defended using a sword.

Now that we can speak without being silenced by a church, we can begin to argue things rationally, with reason and knowledge, rather than faith and belief.

Knowledge can't control people, but faith can.

Because a person is taught something to have faith in, rather than choosing to have faith, it is not wise or sensible or knowledgeable. It is only sad and pitiful.

Yes you can.

It is very illogical to think that there is no possibility of a God to exist.

Not so many years ago, we thought the world was flat. And there was no evidence of that it was another shape at that time. I'm guessing, that the few people, if there were any except Christopher Columbus, who thought it was round would be ridiculed and laughed at. The world is round, didn't seem like proper logic back then.

I like to think the same about God. There is no evidence of him not existing, so why remove the thought that he might be?

And what is so bad about believing? You have an enormous hope.

I'm guessing, that when and atheist loses a close friend or family, that it is way harder than with people who believe, that they're in another better place, and we'll soon all be reunited.

Hope is good. Whether is real or fake, its good :)

I respect that people believe certain things and I can empathise with that fact.

But I don't know if I could defend the logic and find definitve truth that belief is enough logic to prove something.

Either you know something, or you don't. Belief is for those people who are unsure! If you are unsure then there is a possibility it could be false, thus where is the logic in supporting something that could be the opposite of what you think!

I would say belief is more of a rationality, not a logic.

The opposite actually, belief is irrationality .

I can believe I'm going to have a bowel movement today, and that is rational; I can also believe that an all supreme burrito created the universe, and that, is then irrational.

What can a person say? "Just because I do" "I have prayed and been answered" "Something had to make the universe" The idea of God can help "answer" our questions about the universe, but it is an idea that man made up..How can it be real? We would have had to guess that God was real, which would be impossible. Just because science cant answer the questions that humanity asks doesnt mean that the made up answers we have thought of "God" dismiss science.
