Christianity Is Sadomasochism

Just something to mull over. I don't mean sadomasochism in a sexual way, I know they say he is a god of love, but that's going too far.

So, what do you think? Is Christianity sadomasochism?

Having to love that which you fear? The essence of sadomasochism, in my eyes.

I might not be right because this is Islamic but maybe its the same. We believe that you should fear God in a good way. By that I mean remember you are like an ant to him and you love him for giving you food and the five senses and more.To "fear" God, is to admit you are you are helpless before him. So maybe its the same with Christianity. Besides isn't sadomasochism enjoy receiving and giving pain? Some very very religious priests put something on their leg to make them feel pain every time they walk so that they show their gratitude to Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself for his sins but I doubt that is in the bible.

Look at the centre of Christianity. In order for us to avoid eternal punishment, God made his very own son suffer torture, humiliation and crucifixion instead. Now, we have to follow Jesus' footsteps of extreme asceticism lest we suffer disproportionate retribution, which got turned up to eleven in the Middle Ages with the double combination of self-flagellation and mass torture of free-thinking women by the Inquisition (witch hunts). If god was really good and omnipotent why the need for all this gore? Why not use his power to overhaul the needless system of "either way, you suffer"?

I can see where that connection might be made, but I can't say I agree. Christians understand the aspect of love and fear and still choose to have faith in God - they're not forced to. We fear and respect God because we love Him and all He created.

We don't love Him out of fear; we love Him because He loves us. "People fear what they don't understand." We do not understand God and all of His ways, thus the fear.

If your definition of "they're not forced to" is "under threat of eternal sadistic torture in hell forever and ever"
