Black Lives Matter the actual organization stands for a non-violent, policy based approach to mending the relationship between minorities and police. They support a list of policies such as body cams on cops for instance. Black lives matter the movement however has attracted the very people that the organizations founders did not want to have as a part of their group. I believe the group has largely been hijacked by violent nutcases who finally have what they perceive to be an outlet for their anger. 1

Because every organization or movement in history has attracted people that they dont want. In any group you will find people who are violent. It doesnt mean the organization or movement itself is violent. Black lives matter publicly condemned the assassinations of police and condemn any violent protests of any kind. 1

An example of this would be the "Young Turks" on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/ I used to watch them, but in the past year or two they've continued to support BLM and pretend Islam is no more violent than any other religion. They seem to just brush off any criticism of themselves too. They're an example of the Left going full retard. Its really disappointing to see, since Conservatives are far more wrong than they are. 1
