Could you hate your children for this?

Say you had a child but you and the partner broke up but the child looks exactly like the partner you know hate, how would you feel towards the child?

I of course could never think badly of my children for something like that. I would love them no matter what they look like. I just know what it's like to be like an alien in your own home.

I don't think anyone would consciously think "I hate my child because they look my ex", but there may be some subconscious thoughts that make a parent do something or not do something. For example, the child does something that reminds them of the ex, and automatically the parent goes a little more strongly on the punishment. Or gives a punishment when there was no reason to.

The child may be punished because of something that is out of everyone's control, but I seriously doubt a parent would hate their child over just that.

I agree.

I didn't say it was impossible, I meant that what I described is more likely. Though if someone hates their child consciously because of something so petty and out of everyone's control, then I'd think that they don't deserve to be parents to begin with.

Side: No

No because I am very sure that a child picks up some of both features of both of the partners.

Yes every child is half of their mother and half of their father. however there are dominant gene's, these genetics could be passed down and then you can look much more like one parent than the other.

No! Of course not! I'd just force them to wear a disguise.

Side: No

Of course not.

If my child murdered a hundred thousand people, I still wouldn't hate my child.

I'd hate myself.
