CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.

Should Createdebate.com debate debate.org and decide who has better debaters?
DDO (debate.org) challenges create debate. AsPitt website has a real format, you all should get accounts and debate us to see which sitehas better debaters. More on the idea here: http://www.debate.org/forums/miscellaneous/topic/23291/1/
Of course there is. DDO has a completely different style to CD. This is like a football team challenging a basketball team. It'd be stupid and pointless, with biased voting.
Now, I'm con to this argument, but I do feel that I should correct your misunderstanding regarding traffic to websites.
1) None of us are owners of DDO, so none of us stand to make any money from more revenue to DDO.
2) If you ever look over DDO (and I'm assuming you haven't), you'll notice that there are no advertisements, and so, no advertising revenue to be generated from traffic. If anything, extra traffic will just require extra bandwidth, which will only add an expense.
I understand your position, but would also like to clarify where I stand. Traffic is not all about advertisement revenue. Often, traffic dictates how a site is doing, expecially among peers or close substitues. When looked at holistically, visitor count, unique visitor count, page views, conversions (sign ups) and many other factors all play into how a site is growing. I look at these every day to see how CreateDebate is doing. I own and operate the site. Right now it is not about making money, but about breaking even. I have a day job, and CD is something I hope will replace it within the next year or two. That can only happen with monetization. I have many paths for monetization which includes ad click revenue...but there are more. I believe the key is providing a platform for users to speak their mind/peace and get feedback as well. That is what CD does. This whole argument is not about who or what site is better, because they are diferent and serve different purposes.
Logically, the majority of the CreateDebate.com members claim that their website is better than Debate.org and that it is more intellectual. The most popular intellectual discussions are in a debate due to having people fight with their intellect. Now, if the majority of the CreateDebate.com believe there intellect is superior, they should prove that they are the better debaters. However, due to being afraid of the outcome, they refuse to argue their point.
Also again, Debate.org is also for relaxed and fun debates and serious and formal debates. Have you ever read the debate about all the members being in a giant orgy? Or about the debate consisting on Demonized Nambian Antelopes being existent?
Well, here's how I see it. If this were a party, DDO would drink mineral water for 3 hours, then have one beer 'cos they're so fun an' all, then get their stomach pumped.
CD would bring the tequila, the weed, and get laid.
We feel worse in the morning, but we had more fun ;)
Exactly. CD has never claimed to be anything more than it is. We're just peace loving guys, wanting to have fun. Clearly, you guys are so bored with DDO, that you had to come over here to have fun. So, welcome, hope you stay for a long time!
Absolutely false. I came to CreateDebate to laugh at my friend for saying "Gravity doesn't exist" and to look at why my fellow colleague said "The worst way for our debates to turn out is like createdebate.com".
Meh. Global warming is an issue I'm not particularly interested in (those debates tend to be little more than a copy/paste war of conflicting data, not all that fun). Besides, it seems like every other debate on DDO (well, I can only speak for the fairly recent ones) has been on that topic.
But hey, I see that we disagree on the very first 'big issue' listed on your profile (abortion). Strangely enough, I don't think I've ever debated abortion on this site (or if I have, it's been years) and I'd love a chance to debate this topic, especially against someone with an impressive win/loss ratio such as your own. Whadaya say?
1. We are a community. We act as individuals and as a unit.
2. We debate about whatever we want, but rarely is it about who is the better debater. Why, because everyone has an opinion and they are free to share it here.
3. We do not want to drive traffic to your site.
4. We have no need to prove anything, because we have not claimed anything.
5. We are a very different site from yours. If we wanted to be like you we would.
6. If you are doing this for fun, there might be better ways of going about it.
Clashing opinions are debates, debate is just a fancy term for an elaborate argument. BY the way, nice job banning Apollo, shows how diplomatic you guys from Debate.org are. IF you hate this site so much, why are you on here man?
You don't need to be on a "debate team" to know anything, these are very much debates, if you simply deem it not to be debates because it doesn't follow your debate teams standards, well, no one cares lol
Number two and three are unrelated in his case though, 2 was not being used as justification for 3. Therefor, no ad hominem fallacy has been committed. On the lighter side, you and your debate.org buddies can go fuck yourselves. Go on, ban me and claim fallacy again. Show your love of free speech ;)
While I find that you feel the need to defend your site amusing, I don't feel the need. I love CreateDebate, and as long as I enjoy it I could care less about another site.
CD has a family feel to it, which is probably one the biggest reasons I love it.
I used to dislike the far more laid back debating that occurs here at CD. But eventually it becomes a social site (one that I personally have found much more entertaining than Facebook) where you interact with interesting people and have a moderator who interacts quite deeply with his site users. And it's not like serious debates aren't to be had here in our humble web page.
I don't care for organization solely for the sake of organization. I find the CD layout much better and like many other of my fellow users I find the social site aspect much superior than that of debate.org.
As a very active member on DDO (debate.org) I must say that I don't believe that there should be a debate. I would say that it would be nice to have members between both sites to have friendly and competitive debates between them on various topics through various mediums. The idea of having a debate on which site is a better debate site is childish and immature. When such acts are done for other activities, it is a classic sign of an inferiority complex.
I believe they should compete in the best debate site not who has better debaters. It would be obvious that CreateDebate has better debaters and debate site.
