What is particularly funny about this belief (because it is so insanely ignorant and blind) is that the drive toward dominance and competence hierarchies is at the core of ALL vertebrates' BIOLOGY. In fact, hierarchical behavior predates vertebrates which first appear in the fossil record at 530 million years ago. Even some crustaceans like lobsters demonstrate the drive toward dominance submission patterns and hierarchy formation. We are talking about incredibly old drives programmed in deep regions of our reptilian brains. The ignorance and folly required to think hierarchical behaviors are taught or can be untaught staggers the imagination. 1
