Democrats vs. Republicans

This is about whether the Democratic stances or Republican stances make most sense. If of another party, this may not be for you. If you are going to call one party stupid, please give legitimate reasons to support your statement.

First of all, I would like to add that the Republicans are starting off once again by taking a rabbit trail off of a comment made by the moderator. And I would also like to add that I do not believe Democrats or Republicans are stupid. I believe that both parties are made up of persons of intellectual wit and stamina and should be praised for their goals of wanting to make this country a better place for all citizens.

Democrats, in a word, compared to Republicans, believe that this country is not adapting itself to modern times. Too many conservatives want to reach out and grasp the inevitable by quoting the Fore Fathers and by insisting that they would be ashamed at the thought of progressively editing and adapting the Constitution. The great men who founded this country, believed that every individual had rights and every individual mattered. The Constitution was drafted and signed to protect and preserve these rights.

In summary, Democrats believe in adapting the Constitution in order to allow for the freedom of each citizen and group. The Republicans, on the other hand, believe that the Constitution is to be taken at face value, and that this country is to remain as it was economically, fiscally, militarily, and politically when the Founding Fathers signed the Constitution.

The difference is not over the ability/necessity to alter the Constitution, its about political action that steps outside of the bounds of the Constitution without having altered it. We have a codified process for Constitutional alteration and Republicans have never argued against its existence.

Yes, it is the ability/necessity to revise the Constitution. Democrats are progressively acting to change the country's wayward course instituted by Republicans. Once, the Grand Old Party was grand. Not anymore.

And Republicans have never argued a "codified process for Constitutional altercation," because Republicans don't do ANYTHING!!

Side: Democrats

Democrats are willing to make changes as prescribed by those who voted them in.

Republicans don't even want to work for those that elected them. Mitch McConnell says, "It's not my job to bring jobs to Kentucky." He is not opposed to working, just as long as he can work for only lobbyist and not voters.

Side: Democrats

I agree, wholeheartedly!! Democrats are people. They uphold the Constitution. They are of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Republicans are an institution. Clearly, they get elected and ignore constituents.

Side: Democrats

Democrats because they offer a myriad of programs to help the poor and seem to be more benevolent than most Republicans.

The leaders, the movers and shakers of the parties are NOT stupid. The voters who pay attention to political events and issues, are NOT stupid. The unaware, uninformed and the blind followers of party propaganda, could perhaps be labeled politically stupid, but easily can be recognized as unqualified to help choose the direction our our nation. IMO

Nobody could have described you better, than you just did. Propaganda comes from both sides, it is not a one-way street.

The Constitution was put in place a LONG time ago. It still lives to this day. Republicans understand that The Constitution is law. The founding fathers created these laws to escape the rule of government. But Democrats want government rule. That's NOT what this country was built on. The Republicans understand that certain things are necessary to keep this country in tip top shape. But Democrats can be so blind or uneducated so they think things need to change to keep us running. The US is nearly 239 years old. It has survived for so long thanks to the Constitution. Change isn't always good or necessary. Republicans look at the long term where as Democrats want things NOW. It doesn't work that way.

"Republicans understand that The Constitution is law. The founding fathers created these laws to escape the rule of government. But Democrats want government rule."

So do Republicans. That's why they have been trying to tell people who they can and can not marry, that's why many try to implement things like school prayer, etc. Both sides want government rule, just in different ways.

" It has survived for so long thanks to the Constitution. Change isn't always good or necessary. Republicans look at the long term where as Democrats want things NOW. It doesn't work that way."

Republicans try to preserve the current norm, thus they are conservatives. That isn't necessarily looking at the long term, and it can often lead to preventing change that IS good and necessary.

YOU IDIOT! Republicans are not trying to IMPLEMENT school prayer, Democrats are trying to remove it! School prayer has been around since the beginning of this country! It has always been that way. But because like three people were offended, we must change the entire religious liberty definition!
