Describe the theory of evolution as you understand it

Far too often ive encountered people and argued about evolution with them not realizing that the fundamental problem is that they have absolutely no idea what the theory of evolution actually says. I just had one idiot tell me that macroevolution is not actually a piece of "darwinism" as she called it...when in fact that is perhaps the most crutial concept of evolutionary theory. So please do state below in your own words from your own minds what the theory of evolution says and/or how the mechanisms of it work.

Add New Argument

Evolution is the theory that all known species share a common ancestor. It is theorized that the pseudorandom mutations that can be observed to occur in modern species were the driving force behind the actual genetic changes, facilitated primarily (though not exclusively) by the observable process of natural selection, wherein various phenotypes result in greater or lesser reproductive success than others.

It has been supported by all available evidence thus far, such as phylogenetic analysis, and as a theory is demonstrably shown to make accurate predictions, as can be seen in such fields as pharmaceuticals research, epidemiology, and even animal husbandry.

No attempts at refuting it have been successful thus far, nor have any competing hypotheses yielded accurate predictions; most attempts to refute it are rooted in varying levels of ignorance, misunderstanding, or simple misinformation.

It's a lot to mention, I'd feel better with a questionaire. I can say this as a minimum though.

It is believed that all life on Earth started from a few paramecium, and specifically that humans today evolved from a creature very similar to the modern ape.

The historical portion of evolution may still be a theory, I guess technically, but evolution can be seen today, in something as simple as natural selection, and how the creatures with the best traits for their enviroment live, and the ones who are not so suited for it, die.

God created RNA which then evolved into DNA which then evolved into a one cell organism which then evolved into a multicell organism which then evolved into a fish which then evolved into a land animal which then evolved into evolutionists ;)

I ain't evolve from no single-strand genetic material! It's been a double helix since day 0, God said so!

Think you so smart- if DNA evolved from RNA, then WHY IS THERE STILL RNA? HUH? HUH? I THOUGHT SO!

Same reason there are still monkeys ;)

Things change. Change or die.

Natural selection does not exist. (Genesis 1:11) Your argument is invalid as it contradicts the Bble.

2 points

Your argument is invalid because it contradicts nature and science.

Boy, it is fun to just categorically reject things.

Genesis does not disprove natural selection. It "disproves" species changing into other species. Genesis sill allows for change.

My theory on evolution will be that man evolved through different species of animals.

evolution is just a cheap pseudo-intellectual (sounding smart ? ... not) way to say please don't bother me with truth ....

I'm enjoying my sin to much ........ lol << http://dadmansabode.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8#p8 << come and learn

The term you're looking for- wordiness used to seem more intelligent than one actually is- is 'pseudo-intellectual.' Strange, I thought you'd have at least a passing familiarity with the term?

That may be your belief, however retarded, but can you please explain to the best of your knowledge what the theory of evolution actually says.
