Avatar. Hmm. I have so much to hate about that movie it's unreal. Sure it's got pretty graphics and it looks good, but the plot is so one dimensional and tailored for sympathy it's almost unreal. The villains are custom-tailored to be the same kind of people we've learned to hate, the main characters are flawless, and there's cliche, predictable, and mentally insulting scenes. It's an okay movie. It's just not good. The Hurt Locker, however, was pretty goddamn dramatic and gave a picture of what it was like to work in a place like that. It had a charming main character that was almost mysterious in his nature and definitely flawed. It felt real and it was engrossing. Hell, I really liked the movie. Side: yes

Really? People are still talking about this? I saw both movies and I thought the Hurt Locker deserved the Oscar. I didn't care for Avatar that much. The makers had to use great graphics to substitute for the predictable plot. The Hurt Locker had a great story and it pertained to a recent issue that touches people's hearts. Side: yes
