Did Jeb Bush Just Commit Political Suicide with Seniors?

Jeb Bush proposes that Medicare should be phased out.  Did he just ruin his chance with getting the Senior vote?

It's almost as if Republicans don't want to be elected as Presidents.

True! Seniors like Medicare and that's an awful blunder on the part of Jeb Bush.

Suicide is pretending that Medicare will continue as is, without intervention.

Suicide is pretending that the ACA as is, could possibly make health care costs affordable.

Urg you lose all credibility when you use the "run for the hills! We are all going to die!" attitude. People are prioritised based on the seriousness of their condition. People don't generally die while waiting. In the current system I would assume that people do die due to lack of health coverage though.

A current example of a total government health care system is the Veterans Administration hospitals across America. Get in line there and come back with the real perspective.

While I this issue may adversely affect his polling strength with seniors, I suspect that its scope will be rather limited given the general opposition of conservatives to state handouts. It may very well even gain him polling strength, particularly among some younger conservatives who feel they are paying into a broken system that will not be there to support them when they are old.

While I disagree with Jeb Bush on quite a few issues, he is one of the only candidates in this election or most other recent presidential races that I can stomach (from either party). He is intelligent and able to articulate his reasons for his stances better than most politicians on either side, and seems more willing to break with party lines when his experiences and knowledge inform him otherwise. This is not the only potentially unpopular thing he has said, and I suspect it will not be the last; somewhat ironically, that may be what makes him popular.
