Did We Evolve From Animals?

If we evolved from animals long ago, how come we stopped evolving?

And how come there are still monkeys today?

How did "our ancestors" all of a sudden come up with an idea to evolve into a complex human being who can reason and think?

We still are animals. Homo Sapiens had a common ancestor with Chimpanzees (and Bonobos) about 6 million years ago. That is, roughly your 250,000 great grandparent was a creature that was neither a human nor a chimpanzee but something different (a different kind of primate) that separated/branched off in different directions that ultimately gave rise to us (Homo Sapiens) and Chimpanzees/Bonobos. Consider the case of various breeds of dogs arising from a wolf common ancestor some 10,000-35,000 years ago.

Also, we aren't monkeys. We are not descended from any modern species of monkeys (or Apes). Rather, modern monkeys and apes are descended from a long extinct ancestor that predates both modern branches. Evolution explains how humans developed from a primate ancestor.

How did "our ancestors" all of a sudden come up with an idea to evolve into a complex human being who can reason and think?

They didn't "come up with an idea to evolve into a complex human being who can reason and think". The process unfolded due to the Laws and principles of Biology, the prevailing and overwhelmingly favored mechanism/theory is Natural Selection (and artificial selection in the case of Dog breeding for instance).

Are you saying that our bodies today- complex eyes that can see, a perfect system of veins running through our bodies, a heart that pumps blood, a complex brain that can tell commands to the rest of the body, and EVERYTHING else, was all just chance due to "Biology"of Apes long ago? And who we are today is just from a "slot machine" that over millions of years just HAPPENED to land on us? There is to much of a change from an ape to a human even over millions of years. Dog breeding did happen and made many dogs that we see today. But dogs still do not think like us. Over millions of years dogs only adapted to their climate, they didn't evolve into anything more than dogs. Apes did not need to evolve into humans, apes and monkeys still live successfully in the wild today, with no need to evolve. Long ago apes did not need to evolve into another creature, they only needed to adapt to their environment...

A cell has many different parts to it. Evolutionists believe that the first cell formed spontaneously. Two parts a a cell needs to survive are Amino acids, which can only be formed when there is no free oxygen in the air, and Porphyrins which can only be formed when there IS free oxygen in the air. Now remember, a cell NEEDS these 2 parts in order to survive. How did the first cell form spontaneously when one part needs oxygen and the other can't survive in oxygen?

Side: No we did not.

I agree! I mean, where did the cell come from? I think this is one of many big reasons to prove evolution is false!

Side: No we did not.

If evolution were true, we should be getting smarter.

When people speak to evolving, they generally mean mankind growing, improving ouselves, improving our culture, etc.

If one looks at our culture today, he could only say we are devolving, not evolving.

The Left is big on lifting up science when debating issues, UNTIL that science such as Biology says our bodies are designed for a man and woman, not Homosexuality.

Then all of a sudden, they ignore science.

They Left now says we have dozens of different Genders. No longer the science of a man and woman.

The Democrat Party support's even No Restriction abortions of healthy viable babies up to birth, when science says a human ife begins at conception.

Does that sound like lifting up scientific facts when so called intelligent evolved enlightened human beings support the killing of our most innocent viable babies?

Look around and one most know we did not evolve from animals, because we are becoming worse than animals. Most animals do not kill their own young.

This is false

Cultural evolution or devolution is an entirely separate topic than Biological Evolution

The politics of the "Left" has nothing to do with challenging the Scientific validity of Biological Evolution or Taxonomy. You are an Ape, whether you understand it, like it or not. Your Family Tree does not simply extend to your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and so forth for 20, 50, 100, or 500 generations, but rather for 100's of millions of generations. In fact, your 185 millionth great grandparent was a creature very similar to a Lung Fish, not even close to a Human Being. You are related to all other humans very closely, as well as Chimps, Gorillas, Orangutans, Monkeys, Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians, Fish, Insects, Plants, Multi-Cellular and Single Cellular life on Earth. Furthermore, we (humans) are more closely related to Chimpanzees than Chimpanzee's are related to Gorillas.

Look around and one most know we did not evolve from animals, because we are becoming worse than animals. Most animals do not kill their own young.

Quite a few animals kill their own young actually. Although this is not necessarily a model we should be adopting..

What do you think we are if not animals? How do you believe yourself not to fit the description of an animal? Or Mammal? Or Primate?

Also, are you suggesting that you are a Creationist? Old Earth Creationist or Young Earth Creationist?

Side: Yes we did.

I just wanted to add that FromWithin's first statement is also wrong in the assumption that we are not getting smarter, see Flynn Effect. Note that I am not implying that this is caused by evolution or even has a genetic basis. Just pointing out a particularly egregious example of ignorance.

Supporting Evidence: Flynn Effect (en.wikipedia.org)

Really!?! You're saying that Trump came from a monkey!?! The Theory cannot be proven - so it is just a matter of guessing/opinion/religion.

If we are the only ones to invent smartphones, why are we so advanced when other animals like monkeys are not? It is confusing to me that we are the only species to invent electronics and other tools. Even our closest animal relatives don't build houses as sturdy or as solid as we do. They might use leaves or other plants. But it is definitely not like bricks. Birds are the next advanced that I can think of.

We have found transitional stages between our current form and the last ancestor of both Humans and Chimps (about 6 million years ago). I posted links to this information in a former post.

Also, we have found transitional forms for many other animals. For example, Tiktaalik is a transitionary form between a fish and a land animal. Links here:

I know I posted against evolving from animals, but look at our anatomy. We are very close to apes and other monkey-like things. If we did not evolve from them, is it just chance that we look so alike?

Side: Yes we did.
3 points

You have stated something that isn't true here. We did not evolve from other apes, we evolved with them. In fact, the chimpanzee as we know it today has never in fossils been shown to predate us but be equal to us along with bonobos in their date of origin.

In summary, you state that this proves we evolved from apes but we are apes and evolved from a different being as did the other apes.

The diagram shown in the stereotypical evolution chart is therefore not correct.

Did we evolve from monkeys. I think we did not, but lets see where this debate goes...

1. We are animals

2. We evolved from Apes and we are ourselves Apes (not Monkeys)

3. Monkeys and Apes are both Primates

We are animals. We aren't vegetable or mineral, and certainly not viruses (things that aren't easily classified). The evidence is overwhelming that we are, in fact, a branch of the great apes.
