Hey, manly28, show me a MLB team that has not had 10 players at one time or another who used PEDs. Unfortunately, at least 95 percent of all ML players (in the late 90s / early 2000s) used PEDs and it is evidenced by the lists of players who have been named e.g. the Mitchell Report. Several of these lists number in the 100s. The last resort of the uninformed is to cast aspersion since they have nothing else to go on.

Baseball is by far the worst sport for controlling distribution of players and making teams competitive. The yankees have the most money to throw around so they have the best team year in and year out. They have not only bought this world series, they have bought most of them. There needs to be a much stricter way of controlling salary caps, drafting, signing etc.

If the Yankees have bought most of their players as you say, why did the 2009 Yankees have a 25-man roster where 14 of those players were developed in the Yankee farm system? That number was tied with the LA Angels for the most in MLB. It is always easy to make uninformed derogatory statements, isn't it?

Side: No

Yes, the MLB is the most least competitive sport of the four major sports. The Yankees have been the playoffs like 13 of 14 years since 1996 with 5 World Series in that time.

Hey, PrayerFails, the Atlanta Braves were in the playoffs for what their fans claim to be even longer (they missed in 1994 due to the strike). Similarly, the Celtics and Lakers have dominated the NBA for most of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 2000s. Did you complain when the Celtics won 8 straight NBA championships? Do you have any clue about how the Dallas Cowboys dominated the NFL playoffs for most of the 60s, 70s and 80s? It is understandable that you make no mention of these facts since it would undermine your argument.

What the Celtics, Lakers and Cowboys did is irrelevant? Why? Because the debate is about the Yankees?

Sure, the Braves were in the playoffs for whatever numbers of seasons, yet the Braves still have a top 15 total payroll, but do they have the highest paid salary? No, the Yankees do. Total Payroll MLB

Side: yes

Their payroll was astronomical compared to other teams. There is no way they didn't buy it.

When the Yankees didn't have the highest payroll back in 1996 and did win the World Series, did you make this claim then? What about all the other years that the Yankees did not have the highest payroll (there were many), did you say anything then about the team that did have the highest payroll? In fact, the only reason that the Yankees have the highest payroll today is because they won 3 straight World Series. Try it sometime and see how success affects your payroll.

Yes, not only did the buy all their players, but the clearly payed the umpires. In the series vs the Twins, the left field umpire called Joe Mauer's hit foul when it was definitely fair by over two feet. Joe's hit would have won the game.

I remember that hit and it was a fair ball just as you claim. Unfortunately for you, the Twins were swept in that ALDS and lost all ten games that they played against the 2009 Yankees. It's kind of a weak argument to claim that the Yankees paid the umpires, though, when you have no evidence to present. Again, the last resort of the uninformed to cast aspersion.

The Yankees' payroll was over 50 million higher than the second highest team, the Mets, and they spent more than any other team in the off season on free agents like CC, AJ, and Texiera, but you have to consider the fact that over 88 Million came off the payroll with the expiring contracts of Pavano, Giambi, Abreu, and Mussina. In fact, their payroll was 8 million less in 2009 than in 2008. So it can't be said that they "bought" the 2009 world series. The Yankees have the biggest market in baseball and they would be doing a disservce to their fans by not commiting to success and aquiring the best players they can.

(Also, in terms of full disclosure, i must admit that i am a Red Sox fan. However i think that a season ends best when the best team comes out on top and the Yankees were baseball's best this year.)

What should the Yankees do with all they money they have earned, not spend it?

Actually, The Yankees have done nothing wrong, that falls on the league. In other leagues, there are spending caps and even signing limitations. In baseball that is next to non-existent. Makes for the most lop sided league in the world. Teams with the most money have the most talent.

I tip my hat to a real fan, ZombieReagan! To state what you have while being a Red Sox fan is truly admirable. Congratulations for your wins in 2004 and 2007.

The Yankees have achieved a level of success in the world of baseball that is so gaudy, so well known, and so storied picking a handful of players to call their all time best is no easy task. They should be always competitive enough to keep pace with the others. I used to attend their games even their tickets get sold out. Luckily I found Ticketwood.com, now I’ll before compare prices before getting tickets. Go Yankees!!

Why do people hate success? A team does well, and they are cheating, or "buying" the team. Nobody accused the Red Sox of this ever, but lets look back at 2004. After an 86 year draught of unsuccessful seasons, the Red Sox where the second highest payrolled team (behind the yankees, yes) but massed out only one player on their roster that actually came through the Red Sox minor league organization. That means that the Red Sox acquired at some point, 24 of their 25 man roster from somewhere else. So lets not be so quick to hate the yankees, cuz what happened that year? The Red Sox won. 2007, also the second higest paid team. If you want to look at the years inbetween to show the difference, 2005 was the White Sox ranking 7th on the payroll list, 2006 was St. Louis coming in at 11th, and 2008 was Philly ranking 13th. Now someone who spends nothing and almost always ranks last on the list like Pittsburg, probably isn't going to win any championships anytime soon. (make sense? its take money to win) But look at team like Seattle, they are consistenly sitting around the 10th spot on the list, varying slightly, and they never win anything. One of only 8 teams to have never won a world series. Part of why players choose to sign in New York is because it's like the holy grail of baseball. So much history and winning, that being part of it is special, even if another team is offering the same money, who would you choose? And lets not forget that the yankees have won more championships than any other sports team, dating back a hundred or so years. Did they buy them all since the beginning? Its part of the magic of baseball. Yankees are winners, always have been, and hating them for it, isn't ever gonna change it.

No.. Yankees bought the players that won the world series, there is a difference.

Yankees are simply the all power of the baseball world. They have earned every singal ring.

Side: No

just because the Yankees have more money then any team in the MLB that do not mean that they buy the world series they are a regular team like everyone who have the same goal is to the the championship
