A factor contributing to the declining health of our society is the false consensus that only minorities and special-interest groups can be victims of racism, and that only majorities and non special-interest groups can be racists. Since the Progressives have no steadfast platform or anything beneficial to offer society, they have chosen to pander to those who lean on the crutch that is the adulterated use of the word "racist" and the adulterated idea of "racism". This, of course, plays-out as "votes" by those in that growing constituency who do not know any better and who, by the way, most often are the ones exhibiting true racism.

The definition of progressives and conservative is in itself a very bad idea.. a person need not necessarily have a blanket view on all issues as progressive or conservative. The ideas of the self proclaimed progressives might evolve reactions from one quarter that its in line with ideas social justice equality before law while in some quarters might be seen as socialist communist ideas being propagated with various baiting techniques being employed. This is infact mainly because politics and media debate has become way too partisan and polarised.. the ability of people in politics and media debate who spearhead forming public opinion and sentiments cannot swallow their ego and pride and come to a consensus as to how decisions can be made for greater good of the people.

We must only remember the fact that abolition of slavery and universal suffrage were not mere victories of disenfranchised people. It was the coming together of all sections of society to level the playing field. It was empathy and demand for the dignity and respect which brought society together. Few 100 years back one might call lincoln or washington a progressive for enshrining rights and equality of all men and bringing people into the axis of democracy.

But it was 100s of years back. Which is precisely why time is the key to seeing through those ideas bring better a society. It is not just merely hiding behind baiting people with stereotypes and calling oneself a progressive that will.better society but through the will of persuasion,humility ,debate and compromise and consensus that we can make a prosperous society
