Do You Think The US Is Going Into Another "Great Depression"?

The economy has been really hurt and is still falling. Are we headed for another depression.

No it is not. But it was in serious danger of it a year ago. Fortunately the Republicans weren't in charge and couldn't implement their ridiculous economic "fixes". Like a spending freeze! Because that's what the nation really needs when it's in a tailspin... massive government layoffs and companies across the nation that depend on government contracts losing any additional business. That would have been awesome.

The proposed health care plan could put us back a bit though.

Define "put us back a bit"

By lowering costs?

By reducing the deficit?

What part of it are you concerned might be "putting us back a bit"?

That all depends on wall street. We are the puppets in this tragedy.

I don't think the U.S is going into another depression. Even last year we were far from a depression.

Ok, it was just a thought put into a topic. But it isn't hard to believe that it is possible to go into another depression.

Side: possibly

No. it's not hard to believe that, but I feel that the economy has began to turn back to normal.

Because of the stimulus bill and the bank bail outs we are seeing a positive influence on the economy. For the last year or so stock prices have steadily increased. While we may still be in a bad situation we are in no way headed towards the Great Depression.

Side: not anymore

No, it won't put us into the Great Depression simply because of the monetary tools the government will do to prevent a depression. Even if that means bailing out the entire country.

If anything, we will have Mr. China asking for a lot of money.

OH YEAH!!! I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU A PIECE OF MIND!!! The economy, I think, is getting worse and obama isn't helping the economy, and the healthcare plan is the worst plan I have heard in my life! He is making the economy worse and like my mom said, "Our country is just a big mess right now." The healthcare plan is so hated, they are starting to amend it. The economy is super bad for me and a lot of people and is just going to get worse. YOU JUST GOT SERVED!!!

Note: I don't hate Obama, but I think he can make big changes, but he needs to get his act together and make laws that are reasonable that will help our economy. He has made some pretty smart choices that helped our country a little, but nothing for the economy.

K, so here is the deal. Obama is sucking right now. don't take me wrong, i dont hate him. all i am saying is that obama needs to get his act together and actually HELP our nation get out of this horrible economy. The health care bill is not going to help. Everyone is all hyped up about it but it actually dos'nt do anything

I don't recall anyone trying to amend the health care bill...at least anyone that will actually get it done.

The Keynesians are claiming that we are on a slow path to recovery, but the Austrians are saying that the death of the dollar and accumulation of debt will fuck us over in a similar way that Greece got screwed over.

Seeing as the Keynesians tend to think way too highly of themselves and the Federal Reserve I'm inclined to believe the Austrians. But, I think "Great Depression" is too strong of a term so I'll just stick with "possibly"

Side: possibly

It is now 2015 and the United States is showing some improvement.
