The owner of the site lets us say it. You have the right to say what you want, but I have the right to kick you out of my house. We can say what we say because the owner of this site lets us.
I'm a firm defender of the right to free speech as well as the right to say whatever someone wants to say on a debate website.
But...
This site has an owner, the owner sets the rules, and the owner can silence or ban or even edit anyone and anything per their liking. That's what being an owner means.
The reason they can do that without violating your 1st Amendment rights is you still have the right and ability to go to any other place on the web you are able to go and say what you want to say. You even have a right to launch your own debate website with its own rules. So the owner stopping you in your tracks is not actually silencing your right, it's just making you unwelcome in what is actually the owner's own space and property. Which in it's own way is the owner's own statement to make.
